TuneXP

"I'm missing one very effective program here. It's called TuneXP from Driver Heaven. I've tried most of the programs mentioned above with the exception of HijackThis and Advanced WindowsCare Personal, but non match the improvement in performance TuneXP manages to get out of my system. Though the option I noticed to have most benefit requires more then 512mb ram to work properly. It's called Disable Paging Executive, which forces the use of your hardware memory instead of the pagefile. As a result it requires more ram, but it really makes your PC fly. Well at least it did to all the PCs I've used it on.

To get the best result, use some of the tune-up tools above first, then finish up with TuneXP. Before you use it, be sure to use the help file. The functions may seem complicated, but just read the easy to use help file which explains which functions are best to use on your system.

As the name suggests, it works only for Windows XP.
