TuneUp Utilities 2009 Free Until March 30th [Expired]

This offer has now expired

For other free alternatives see here: http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-pc-tune-up-utility.htm

Thanks to wdhpr's suggestion I've decided to submit this as a hot find!

Have just installed and used TuneUp Utilities 2009:

http://dottech.org/freebies/15196

I like the intuitive and well designed GUI along with the very clear and easy to understand explanations of what this software finds on your system.

The nitty- gritty, on the left hand side of the TuneUp interface there are 7 headings listed vertically:

Start page-(maintenance, speed & health)

Increase performance-(drive & registry defrag, memory & speed optimizer & startup manager)

Free up disk space-(unnecessary files & backups, windows functions & disk space explorer)

Clean up Windows-(1- click maintenance, registry & shortcut cleaner, uninstall manager)

Solve problems-(disk doctor, repair wizard & undelete)

Customize Windows-(styler & system control)

Additional tools-(process manager, registry editor, file shredder & system information)

Any adjustments that you make to your PC can be simply reversed on an individual basis by using the Rescue Center.

Runs on XP, Vista but can only run on W7 in compatibility mode. The download size is 16.9MB.

Please be sure to first of all download the English version -if that's your preference- which for some strange reason is only mentioned halfway through the article.

NB You need to enter an e-mail address in order to obtain the registration key, no nag screens!

Enjoy!

Thanks for the hot find, I've used Tune Up Utilities 2007 for years and really like all the tools rolled into one.

I got mine totally in German! Couldn't find the English option.
Fortunately, I can rely on my rusty Deutschkentnis (knowledge of German).
Don't know how to put it in English now - IT skills not up to it, tho' I'd be grateful if someone could tell me how...perhaps not. Why should everything have to be in English. Let's give other languages a chance.

If you look at the directions, there is a link to download an english version. I would recommend you download the trial version, uninstall the German and reinstall using the same license key. The key can be used on more than one copy. I installed TU 2009 on my desktop and laptop with the same license key.

Not having any type of tuneup utility, outside of CCleaner, I decided to give this a try. Had no problem registering or getting the key. The product seems simple enough. Though I did not understand half of what it was referring to when the various tools advised of options to optimize settings. I used the one click option instead. Also ran the defrag tool which took nearly an hour. So far I've not noticed any improvements on my 6 year old laptop. But it's probably too soon to tell.

Thank you for the link.

#1 When you supply your e-mail address the first time you then have to fill in the CAPTCHA box. After you have successfully filled this out the screen greys out and a dialogue box appears, you then have to paste or retype your e-mail address.

After this you will see a page in German which is telling you that you need to check your e-mail and click on the link within. NB Please check your junk folder in case it has been placed there.

Once you have completed the aforementioned you should now have a page with the key, copy and then paste this after running TuneUp. There is a button on the bottom right hand side marked Enter Product Key and voila you have your free software! ;-)

I hope this helps anyone having problems

Yes, I did that which is when the screen greyed out and nothing happened after that! Most annoying cos I'm still using the 2007 version.

by Anonymous on 29. March 2010 - 16:16  (46448)

I have tried to register my email repeatedly but each time the screen greys out (as if waiting to do something else) and nothing happens. Tried rebooting but just the same thing.

Managed to download the english version of the prog so all I need is the key - any ideas??

Hi:

I had the same problem. Am wondering if you are using IE 8 as I was. This is the culpert, IE 8. I switched to Mozilla Foxfire and had no probs at all. I also tried it using Maxthon, also had no probs. They should deep six IE altogether.

How long does it take to get the key?

by Anonymous on 29. March 2010 - 13:06  (46428)

Got the key straight after registration

by Anupam on 29. March 2010 - 13:05  (46427)

It should be instant. If the email did not arrive, look in the spam folder. It might have ended up there.

Seems that something happened when posting. Probably a cut-n-paste thing.
It happens :)

The utility is good. I like the clear cut menu and that I can choose what is optimized.
Here is a link that will walk you through the process. Hurry ends March 30th.

QUOTE #4 = Its straight smack under how to register for an product key.

Could you give the specific URL to download Tuneup Utilites? I cannot
find it, and see all kinds of gibberish on this page. THANKS, Mary

by Anonymous on 29. March 2010 - 1:35  (46389)

I see it. I have tried following the links in here to download the program but it is all in German and I can't seen to find the button to download the program. I've never had this problem with any of Gizmo's Hot Finds.

by Anonymous on 29. March 2010 - 11:35  (46420)

Just slow down when you get to the page. Read slowly with a positive mind. Sure, it's in German, but you can figure out what to do. I just did it and there's nothing to it. Good luck.

Its straight smack under how to register for an product key.
