Is there a freeware app to capture from a camcorder?

I'm looking for freeware that will allow me to transfer video from my camcorder to the computer. I searched the forum a few differenct ways and didn't come up with anything.

Try "CaptureFlux". It is downloadable at http://paul.glagla.free.fr/captureflux_en.htm

A wonderful program is scenalyzer.

It may not be free, but it works really really well

Here's a tutorial on the whole process, from capture to playable DVD.

This is about burning your movie to DVD, but there's a link in the story to the capture routine.
If you have XP, Windows Movie Maker is the easy place to start.

Also, capture is part of any good editing program. Cuz why would you just want to capture stuff, you want to edit it too.

Open Source Alternative is another good place to scrounge for freeware.

Must be something I'm missing too, maybe it's a mature app. This one virtual VCR, http://sourceforge.net/projects/virtualvcr/ is 5 years old!
