Free Sets of Icons for the Web and Elsewhere: Smashing Flavours, Twitters and More

Smashing Magazine is a hot web design site which, among much else,  comes up with some great free icon packs ready  for download.

In a past hot find, we've pointed users to a whole heap of  such icon sets from Smashing. Of various sizes, formats and descriptions, these icon sets remain highly recommended downloads for use on your computer or website. 

 Website designers may be interested in Smashing Magazine's latest web icon set freebie called Flavours, now in a package comprising  as many as 452 different Flavours icons sized 48 x 48 pixels.  Designed by Oliver Twardowski, according to Smashing,

"The files are transparent PNGs, and the source file (.psd) is available for download as well (see the links below). As always, the set is completely free and may be used for any private or commercial project without any restrictions whatsoever."

This new pack is actually an expanded version of an earlier free Flavours icons download from Smashing Magazine. That freebie also contained a small set of so-called Cute Twitter icons (scroll down) by Finnish designer Mirjami Manninen. These cute twitters were much appreciated at the time and doubtless have lost little of their tweetie appeal. You can still catch them for free on the wing:

"eight transparent PNG icons for Twitter, available in resolutions of 128×128 pixels, 256×256 and 512×512. The sources are in EPS files (for CS4 and CS3), PSD files and AI files (for CS4)."
