For dsl users, I can recommend the TCP Optimizer tool found here:
http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php
And I would not rule out a problem with the line &/or wiring of your house. A recent ice storm, damaged my connection. After some hours on the phone, Verizon dispatched a Tech, and walla...my connection speed doubled.
Good luck with all!
We see no reason why we should host a link to your site.
TCP Optimizers are more controversial than you (or Speednet) suggest. We recommend that users do before-and-after testing; and most find they can't detect any difference in download speed so it really doesn't seem worth messing around with.
On the other hand, if you have some evidence, some figures, we'd reconsider.
If you have XP try using PageDefrag. It will defrage you page file and registry hive files.
It can make a big difference.

I have a Dell Dimension desktop (3 yrs. old) running XP sp3.Recently it has become very slow downloading anything off the internet-sites,videos,etc.I currently run a DSL connection.I routinely run the following programs: Super Anti-Spyware,Malawarebytes,Advanced System Care,Spybot Search&Destroy,AVG Free 8.0 Anybody have any suggestions on how to speed up my internet speeds? Should I run a HijackThis file and submit it to somebody? Thanks in advance for any help. Bob
try getting rid of avg and replace it with Avira. Then download ccleaner and then defrag your harddrive.
use privacy cleaner or else you need to increase your RAM
Give me more details like what is the make of your computer and how much memory you are using etc.
Windows 98!
Someone is still using it?
My main rules with slow computers are: spyware/virus removal, temp files erased, defrag and registry clean (see my tools site for free items to do all this).
It may be time to invest in WinXP or Vista. I am using both and they are much faster and cleaner than the dinosaur.
When you upgrade, take a look at my site of free tools -> http://www.geocities.com/web_mgr/tools.html.
First thing I always look for when a PC slows down is spyware and "bonus" software like toolbars and BHO's. I use SpybotSD.
Second thing I look for is overheating. Google for HWmonitor and check your CPU temperatures. I believe Intel chips has a speedstep mode that will halve the speed when it runs too hot. A good dust blow-out does wonders in most cases. Do NOT use air-in-a-can (usually around $5 each and lasts only about 2 or 3 cleanings). They are extremely cold and can crack your components. I had to throw several motherboards and memory modules away because of that. Instead I now use a $5 no-name leaf blower. Best investment I ever made. Cleaned several hundred PCs already, and it shows no signs of quitting yet.
Then I usually run CCleaner to get rid of all the temp files.
And then, of course, do a full defrag. I can recommend "JKDefrag -a 7". At least, it works with XP. I don't know about Win9x. Read the author's web page to see what it is compatible with.
Add more memory. Too little memory, and you will experience slowness. Windows is using the hard drive for extra "memory" (aka swap file). The hard drive is much slower than memory. A memory upgrade can do wonders.
Also check that you did not run out of disk space. If you use a dynamic swap file, it can get squeezed when you run low on disk space, resulting in a slowdown of your computer.
Have you done a scandisk, defrag and is the disk full? Also have you done a virus, trojan scan etc? All these things slow down a computer.

Give more detail as to what programs startup with compyter and how much memory you have and which chipset are you using?
