Six months Free Avira AntiVir Premium
Just wanted to let people know that Avira are currently running a promotion that gives you a generous six month licence key for the premium (paid) version of AntiVir. The link takes you to a page on their site in German, but filling in the fields should be straightforward enough!
If you already have the program installed you simply need to download the new licence key and double-click it, which will replace any exisitng/expired keys.
Just a reminder that the six month validity period of the key begins the day it is downloaded, irrespective of when it is then subsequently installed.

P.S. As far as I am aware, this offer is available to all users, even those that have previously registered with Avira and received other free licence keys.
Edited to add: This key only works with AntiVir Premium and NOT the free version, so you'll have to uninstall the latter first (if that's what you're currently using) before installing the premium version. Both the program and licence key can be downloaded from the same page you're directed to upon registering your particulars.

I downloaded the german version before reading the comments...can i change the language to english after installing?

Ah, this offer explains perhaps why their update servers were non responsive for a few hours earlier today, or yesterday as it is now.
It would be fantastic to get a free license for Kaspersky too :)
You can always get a free license on kaspersky av from www.yuvayantra.com. However the site is country-locked to India which you may bypass using a Indian proxy server(just google it).
I cant translate the form with either yahoo babel or google translate. Also my country CANADA isn,t included in location which is unusual!
Your country is in the list; spelled as Kanada. Too simple for words.

This will get you english version.
I did this last night...let's see if I can remember the steps.
Go to: https://license.avira.com/en/
Login with your username (email address) and password.
If you don't have a password, click the Forgot Password? link and they will send you a temporary password back to your email address.
Once you get the temporary password, go back to https://license.avira.com/en/
Login with username and password. Go to My Account and download product and key files. They should be the English versions.

I tried to download the key that came in my email and my computer wouldn't let me open the file.. a registry editor window came up and asked if I wanted to put the file in the registry.. so I said yes and it wouldn't allow and I said no and nothing happened.. any suggestions would be appreciated..
You just download the key on desktop and do nothing with it yet. Then you download the set-up file of the avira premium on the desktop as well. Once you start installing the program it will ask you for the key and then you will get it from your desktop. Once the key is activated and you get the license until July 2009. But do not delete the key after you activate the product because you will need it to install new versions of avira premium during the 6 month period.

This is where I got the English version.
as long as you saved the key it should show automatically when you re-activate, otherwise-if using the Free version, as i was, i had to download the premium version in order to activate the *free* key.
