Searching for my movie audio ripper

Couple of weeks ago I had a major crash when my daughter turned on every light upstairs and then plugged in a hairdryer that could be used to dry airport runways. Popped a circuit breaker and totally corrupted XP so bad I had to reformat and reinstall. I saved all my best programs, except for a DVD movie audio ripper. It was free and really great. It would handle either DVDs or ripped files. It had a small monitor window on the  right that showed the movie, and under the small monitor window was a slider bar so that I could fast forward the movie to the place I wanted, and then twin tabs that I could set the start of audio rip and the end. So I didn't have to rip the entire soundtrack of the movie. It even had a digital counter so I could dial ultra-fine begin and end point sets. I can't remember the name of it - drat. Saved the rip to mp3 (I think other formats also). The resulting extraction sound was excellent. I know there are a lot of free movie audio rippers out there, but I am desperately trying to find that particular one again. As I remember the author used his individual name as opposed to an impersonal company name, but I'm not sure about that.    Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Hey check out Handbrake its a handy DVD ripper that has multiple preset settings, many different formats including MP4 and AVI.It even includes a choice on intended size.

Also for the more "copyright" inclined user, check out dvd43. This program runs in the tray and synchronizes the DVD drive so that Handbrake or any other ripping program won't flip its lid at copyrighted material. Extremely useful for backing up a DVD collection to a hard drive

ENJOY!!!

To prevent this happening again, get a UPS. They may be less expensive than you thin - I got one for < $AU100.
