Scan Your Hard Drive for Problems for Free Before it Fails

This small, free utility can scan your Hard Disk Drives and diagnose possible problems. It scans an impressive array of drives; ATA/SATA, SCSI HDD, USB HDD and FireWire or IEEE 1394 HDD volumes. RAID and USB Flash are surface test only. Identifying possible problems early creates time for you to back up your data before it becomes difficult to recover.

HDDScan is a small utility (about 2MB) that can perfom a S.M.A.R.T. check of your system, analyze drive temperatures, tell you who manufactured your hard drive, checks how well your drive is performing, and will pinpoint any problems.

While HDDScan finds problems on your hard drive, its worth mentioning that it does not repair them.

HDDScan   Windows 2000 (with SP4), Windows XP (with SP2) or SP3), and Windows Server 2003 (no Vista or Windows 7)

HDTune and SpeedFan (as well as your BIOS probably) also do S.M.A.R.T. checks, and they do support Vista.

I've used Speed Fan for years. Good program.
