Revamped Photo Sharing Site Offers 10 GB Of Free Storage
Not for the first time, photo sharing site "Minus" has had a major revamp. Gone (or at least sidelined) is the rather confusing URL of http://min.us, so now you can access the system via minus.com instead.
Use of the system is still free, and sign-up is both quick and easy. Once you're registered, you get 10 GB of online storage, and the maximum image size has been increased from 50 MB to 2 GB.
If you haven't come across Minus before, it's one of the easiest photo-sharing sites out there. Just go to the aforementioned URL, bring up some photos on your desktop, drag them to the Minus workspace in your browser, and the upload begins automatically. Once it's finished, you're ready to share your pictures with family, friends or colleagues, just by telling them the URL of the photos you uploaded (which will be displayed on the screen, ready for you to copy and paste).
There are loads more new features, including apps for Andoid and iPhone to help you upload pictures from mobile devices. If you like taking pictures and you want to share them online, www.minus.com is definitely worth a look.

It seems that someone missed some HUGE fine print on this one. You can earn up to 50GB of FREE space by referring people to the site. Sign up for an account, share your special invite link, and both parties get 1GB of FREE space.
Upload full quality pics and files up to 2GB and share them. Nobody can beat that deal! FREE GEEBEES!!! :) I've been using this site since about day one, and I will recommend it to anyone and everyone. But, as SkiddMarx said, don't rely on this as your only backup.
Happy sailing!
To clarify, the new user will receive an additional 1GB of FREE space.
As of noon eastern time Sept 19, Minus appears out to lunch. Site loads very slowly and will not accept uploads. I worked with trying uploads yesterday over several hours with no success; thought maybe I was doing something wrong. Some images (100K each) would take; most would not. I tried on 3 pc's usings FF6 and IE8 all with same result.
Sent email to Minus; rec'd response last evening that server problems were fixed. Not so; actually worse today as site takes forever to load.
Based on favorable comments on this site, I tried Minus on the 14th for the first time with no problems whatsoever. It was simple and did what I needed. Suppose it is time to find another photo-sharing site. I have not tried any others yet, but hope they are more stable than Minus.
Edit: 8 hours later, Minus working fine as it did middle of last week. Hope that this will hold. Just wish that the problem could have been addressed on the forum rather than making users wonder what the problem is. The images that I needed to load could have waited a day or so. As usual, just lack of communication.
Indeed....a total lack of communication. Being that Minus was aware that they had problems, some information on the page would have been helpful.
This site was better before. It now puts a time limit on duration of files unless you register...something like imgur is better. I was still using it however, but it has now stopped storing uploads anyway. Been like that for at least four days. Useless!
1. When I try to drag and drop files onto the dashboard it navigates my browser to the picture on my hard drive instead of uploading the file.
2. When I try to drag and drop several pictures to the dashboard it picks a single picture and navigates to it on my hard drive instead of uploading them all.
3. I can not find a link to create a folder to sort pictures into.
4. When I try to use the upload button I am only able to upload one picture at a time.
A free account at Sendspace or other file sharing service is so much easier to use why bother with this outfit.
I dragged 3 snaps from my Windows 7 desktop to the box on the website all three files uploaded perfectly.
And it seems you can upload all sorts of files not just photos. I uploaded a big zip file with a program inside and a small video as well.
This has to be the easiest way to share photos and large files I've yet seen.
I have been using this site for ~ a year now.
Indeed, the easiest way to share photos (even entire folder). Its pretty fast, reliable, intuitive, minimalistic.
Just be careful not to depend on a site like this as your only backup - your photos are only backed up as long as the site stays in business. Otherwise, 10 gigs is sweet.
Thanks for the heads up! That's a very useful tip
