question about restoring drive image

Hi.... Using Gizmo's directions, (never re-install windows again) I partitioned my hard drive, made my ubcd4win cd, and burned my drive image (drive image xml) onto a stack of cds. My purpose is to duplicate one hard drive onto a second computer. If the ubdc4win cd is in the cd drive on my second computer, how can I feed this computer my backup cds to restore the drive image?? Does the boot cd actually install itself on the hard drive, so you can remove the cd from the drive and still restore using driveimage xl? I would really appreciate having this cleared up for me. Thanks!

Try removing the UBCD4win CD after it asks for the first CD, then insert them in turn as it requests them. Many of these restore systems work by loading a mini OS onto the PC first. Once done, you can remove the boot CD and insert the image CDs in turn.

You have to boot from ubcd4win - by changing boot order or not, it depends on your BIOS settings - open driveimage xml plugin, locate backup and proceed to restore from there.

Thanks so much, but I don't think I was clear. I know how to boot from the disk. After I navigate to Drive Image, I don't know how I will use my stack of burned .iso cds when there is already a cd (the ubcd4win) in the cd drive. I only have one cd drive. I can't find this anywhere.

Ah, Ok. You need two CD/DVD drives to do that. Another cheap alternative is to use an external HD.
