Norton Security Scan cannot remove anything, and the Google Pack version is gone.

THATS A REALLY LONG LIST!

a suggestion:

most users, like me, would not be able to draw benefit from this great list for lack of time. So i would recommend that you take a category, decide the best one, and post it here so that one can try it.

thanks

"The products for each category are listed with the best free products first (non-free products are always at the bottom of each category), as judged by me. My current choices for real-time protection on my XP desktop and Vista laptop have been marked with ►. Other noteworthy products used by me have been marked with ♦, and my favourite malware detection/removal tools with ⇒."

It is the extensive list, which makes this article popular, worthy and unique.. there is no question of shortening it :D.

may be we should add for Anti-phishing/malware browser plugins: http://www.webutation.org - seems to be promising!?

What do you think?

by ako on 4. June 2010 - 11:47  (51039)

Seems good :) Thanks! Added.

Is this still in closed beta or has it been released yet?

by ako on 4. June 2010 - 12:56  (51064)

soon released

Hi Ako, I have been following this list since it was started, it has been a priceless asset to me.

NortonDNS is in beta http://nortondns.com and from my experience with it, it blocks 7/10 websites on MDL (for me at least). Seems to be just as fast as any other DNS.

Cheers mate! Si vis pacem, para bellum.

Thanks pal! I'll add this good hint to the list. I'm happy to hear you've found this list worth using.

Off the wall idea, how about a section of anti-virus/malware/cloud programs that can run alongside a main antivirus? Immunet for example. Would take some time to dig up those than can do such a thing, but heck, just an idea.

Cheers mate!

Not a bad idea. I'll think about it :)

I added "Anti-malware (Can be run alongside with an AV):" :-)

by ako on 10. June 2010 - 10:21  (51817)

I moved Clamwin Antivirus there, as it works with other AV. Any other?

A-squared Free does not seem to be available on the Emsisoft website anymore. The download link redirects to Emsisoft Anti-Malware 5, which does have a restricted free license, but is bloated nonetheless.

OperaTor changed to "Operator". The new version lacks Tor/anonymity. It's now just a portable Opera browser.

It is now Emergency...something. I'll check this.

Under Browser Tests > Browser security (java). It seems that Jason no longer hosts the Browser Security test, thus the link is broken.

Cheers mate!

http://www.comodo.com/home/internet-security/disk-encryption.php
Comodo Disk Encryption

Not sure what section it would fit in, it does a little of both I think.

by ako on 13. June 2010 - 20:49  (52045)

Thanks!

I made new title: disk encryption

by Anonymous on 14. June 2010 - 0:07  (52060)

Oh, as far as I know, Comodo Encryption can make virtual drives as well!

Cheers!
