Plan Your Room, Garden, Office or Exhibition Layout Online For Free.

Software to help you plan room layouts is often huge and unwieldy, because of all the libraries of graphics that it needs to maintain.  So it's great to find a web site that lets you do it all online.  Exhibit Core (www.exhibitcore.com) is free for basic use, and allows you to plan your home, garden, office, room, or any other layout just by dragging, dropping and rotating.  You can then export your finished design to a PDF file.

Whether you're a professional who wants to plan the layout of a corporate exhibition stand, or you simply feel like rearranging your living room at home, Exhibit Core is well worth a try.  All you need is a web browser, and there's no need to sign up or register if you don't want to.  I managed to put together the simple office layout below in about 2 minutes.  Though I admit that it was vastly improved once I decided to remove the trees and the bicycle!

My thanks to reader Ron Mitchell for telling me about this great Hot Find.

I tried registering & when I hit submit I got a pop up that the "account already exists, try to recover password".When I clicked it told me the account didn't exist.I'll pass on this one.

Well, I'm looking for a program to design a house layout. I tried this out, but sadly I was not impressed. There doesn't seem to be any good way to line up anything (no snap to grid or line up door on wall). I also can't find any undo function. And the zooming... it's giving me a headache bouncing around the way it does.

I found this one http://www.sweethome3d.com/index.jsp. It is a free download and works well. The only issue I found is that if you have a 2 story house you can't have the 2 floors on the same plan. Not a deal breaker but a heads up. Also Sweethome3D is JAVA. My daughter was using the software like a doll house. She could make anything and then move around it with the figures.

sweethome 3d is very nice. You can add a second floor if you plan ahead a little. Put ceilings in the first floor or even use floor sections that are elevated to your ceiling height. Floors and ceilings can be raised and lowered like you can do with windows and other objects. I have been playing around with this for some time and seem to find new things each time.

SketchUp is the best in my opinion. What puts the icing on the cake are 2 things integration with Google Earth including topography (previously only in paid edition) and the dizzying array of free models from 3Dwarehouse (also integrated). Add the excellent tutorials (also free) and Ba Da Bing!

Very nice. 2-d and 3-d views. Print without setting up an account. Copy and edit existing designs... and with grids and measurements in feet and meters.

Tried the system, opened and all that, but it would not let me save the layout. Said my registration was wrong.

I believe you must register for a free account in order to save your designs.
