Last time PDFZilla was offered by GOTD, the Hot Find won the approval of Gizmo's Freeware editor JoJoYee, who had this to say:

"PDF to Doc conversion is quite good. Certain converted formats and layouts are better than the free software "Some PDF to Word Converter" mentioned in the Best Free PDF Tools."

The latest version of PDFZilla is free again today as a time limited offer from GOTD.

PDFZilla didn't work *at all* with *my* installation of Office 2010 and Win7. It installed ok and it ran, but it sent Word 2010 into spasms and the output -- when it finally came -- was pretty horrible.

Clearly, PDFZilla hasn't caught up with Office 2010 (nor have I, actually). The tentative info about it working with Win7 was only based on user comments on the GAOTD page. Sorry, anyway.

Apparently, this program now also works on Windows 7.

You're a lifesaver - I've been praying for a program that would do this. Thank you so very, very much.

Glad you find it useful... I know that situation when, for one reason or another, you haven't got access to a .doc copy of a pdf, and you need to edit it.

You'll find a bunch of useful freeware pdf tools reviewed here:

I've updated (ie re-published) the article to take in today's rerun (January 3, 2010 only) of this time-limited offer from GAOTD - PDFZilla is good software.

Some GOTD users (see for example Comment #53) are reporting that this updated version (1.2) of PDFZilla performs notably better than the original version.

I haven't done a comparison, but the older version of PDFZilla already seemed to be pretty good in itself.

According to Comment #21, if you download the installer from pdfzilla.com and use the registration code provided in the Readme from GOTD you may find you're subsequently able to reinstall the program, even though it's technically a time-limited offer.

Anyway, I'd really recommend taking advantage of today's GAOTD offer
