PC power on then suddenly turn off
My pc will not sustain power on. It turns on then a couple seconds later it dies. So I bought a new power supply and replaced the old ps. I checked cables and nothing is loose or anything like that. So I turn it on and didn't work either. The heatsink and fan is still working properly just to let you know. I removed all power and SATA cables connector to HD and CD/DVD drives and reboot, still does the same thing. Then I remove 1 memory card at a time (Total=4 mem-card) and still does the same thing. Then I removed all the PCI cards and still no help there. The only thing that's not removed is the CPU, Heatsink and Fan. Finally I took those out. FYI: each time I remove stuff I unplug the power cord. After that I plug the power cord back in, the pc comes on and stays on. It didn't even give a chance to flip the switch. It just come on right away. I try to turn it off using front panel power button but it didn't respond and yes I try holding it for 5 to 10 second too. The only way to turn it off was by the switch on the ps. So the question: Is this a CPU or a mobo issue? I faver more on cpu issue, but that's me. Any help would be appreciated.

My problem is something else. My PC would suddenly shutdown and restart. It happened usually midway through my work. Very frustrating. At first I though it could be due to conflicting anti-virus softwares that I installed. But after removing each one the problem persisted. At the good day it was ok for half a day. Could it be due to faulty power supply? Would it happen to a reputable brand like HP?
hey, faulty mobo placement can cause issues like turning off on its own,may be u should check the screws if any are not holding the mobo tight.and misplaced jumpers on the board can cause conflicts.u should try loading optimal default's in BIOS.Works for me some times
the problem is on the cpu and the motherboard.try to replace it...
Well, this happened with my brand new AMD system,it would die after few moments of work and stuff. I was kinda wondering what the heck with my brand-new system! But then on I noticed that my previous AMD had such issues, its pretty much a special feature that helps the processor from overburn.
I live in asia and its really too hot in summer times,so guess when I turn on after say 3 minutes the system goes dead on its own and it won't get on even pushing the power switch,so I have to switch off the wall socket and back on to get a booting. So what I did was opened the side cover of my CPU and that way air flow kept the processor cool enough for operation. That helps and no more auto death but hey note that my PC is in closed down room, and its pretty bad b'casue it will speed up the process of dust building on yout mother-board :)
Well its usual with AMD,but if you have any other boards or processor brands, I suggest you contact your local customer service and stuff. Any other problem such as faulty RAM,loose or incorrectly set internal cards and other stuff doesn't let the system go dead, instead it'll produce series of beeps in internal speaker,so it might be something else or processor overheating stuff,in either way I suggest you contact your local customer service.
I have the same problem happen in the past several times each time what i have done is removing RAM and place it back then restart the system and it it was working fine, but after replacing MY RAM(Memory card)with NEw one the problem is solved.
try to remove out the proccesor and free for 2 hours.
we are de same... please help us..
I had the same problem with my computer starting up and then dying randomly from either the first second anywhere to windows being fully operational. I tried everything and was just about to give up when I accidentally noticed it was the onboard network card that did it and the built in usb ports on the motherboard. there must be a lose connection or something because every time I plugged the network cable in or something into the usb the computer would die. I just put in a different network card and added an usb pci card which thankfully I had both lying around and it now works perfectly. Just dont put anything into the onboard usb drives or it dies!
can you tell me what board you got , i have the same problem and i suspect the board !
You could have a bad power switch. Try disconnecting the power switch header from the motherboard. If the computer doesn't immediately power on, you can briefly short that connection to start the computer. See if it behaves after that.
Good luck!

think you might find its the sata drive. my drive packed up but when it was not connected (had main ide drive with os on it and sata for data storage) the pc was fine.
i connected the sata to another pc and the same thing happened...power on for like 3 secs then it switched off. had to get new sata drive.
