Panda Internet Security Free for 24 Hours on Oct 22 (Expired)

Here's some advance warning on a great upcoming offer.

Panda will be offering a full 12 month license to their Panda Internet Security 2010 anti-virus program for 24 hours starting on October 22, the launch date for Windows 7.

It's not clear at this stage whether the offer is only for Windows 7 users or possibly restricted to the USA only. We will have to wait until the offer goes live to find out.

Stay away from Panda--Not the kind of company you want to do business with!

I was an early adopter for Panda. I found lots of small problems--it just didn't do what it promised without bothering me about a lot of other things.

Then came the emails. I blocked them and they arrived from different domains. And the phone calls "we just want to know what you thought. . . "

After more than 6 months of constant "STOP BOTHERING ME. DO NOT CALL ME. DO NOT EMAIL ME. DO NOT INTERRUPT MY WORK." I finally have been rid of them.

Save yourself some real hassle. There are much better programs out there, and no one will follow you home. . .

Panda stinks.

I ordered panda antivirus and they sent me p internet security.
I installed it and had an error in the install - then it said to reboot when it was done - it had an error on startup.

It sucked up resources like a sponge. One of its screens was all in spanish. I finally uninstalled it and it sent me to a page asking for feedback due to me uninstalling it - it was all in spanish.

I registered at their site and then when i forgot my password it asked me for my id and password in order to retrieve my password.

I think Panda is in China. I can't believe they actually sell this product to USA customers.

Whatta piece-a c... .

And to think i purchased this after a CTO type guy Ive known for years sung its praises so much that I finally purchased it.

Try the a-squared Antil-Malware offer on here in 4 days time. It's not exactly light either but it's better than some and I think you'll find the user experience and protection levels much better.

Thanks for nothing Panda. No code was ever sent.

But from what I read here I'm not missing anything by not using their suite. Other solutions offered here seem more sensible and much better products.

Fraud.
Hard to get your money back though for something offered for free, but why even bother to promise if you have no intention of delivering.

Never tried it before, but now most certainly never will.

still waiting for key here too,so much for 2-3 days.will uninstall tomorrow and put the freebies back in.avast and pc tools firewall.

Got the code after 2 days, but uninstalled just yesterday.
Panda seems to have very bad habit to getting into your way when you really need system into full working condition. Panda force starts a task "pavjobs" that is scanning all your drives. There is nothing in configuration to disable it, as far as I could see, and it is not something I have scheduled.

I'm running XP on 2GB, and after some time this taks sucked up all remaining memory, forcing system to heavily use virtual memory. The "grinding" of my poor hard drive just slowed it so much that it was no longer possible to do anything. Due to some self-defense mechanisms Panda is using, I was not able to kill this task and basically was left with system I couldn't do anything with.

This happened during the work and SysInternals Process Explorer was quick to find the problem, pointing at Panda's self starting task ("pavjobs.exe"). That, after some reading and trying to get rid of it, eventually followed a "quick" uninstall.... never looking back at Panda.
If I want to scan my system, I will schedule the scan in most convenient for me way. Can't really rely on those forced scans as they tend to start when you less want them. That itself would be bearable, if Panda would provide a way to shut it down after it started. It's not the case though. Goodbye Panda, you've lasted exactly 8 days.

Regards,
Ryandell

I would maybe wait a few days because we have something light years better coming along soon.

by Anonymous on 22. October 2009 - 22:12  (35282)

Still over-priced.

Hello,
Just one question. Does anyone know if it is possible not to install the firewall during the installation of Panda Internet Security?
Thanks

by Anonymous on 27. October 2009 - 21:43  (35331)

Yes you can disable the firewall part of the PANDA. As i earlier got the ZONE ALARM Pro in the one day offer so while installing Panda i didn't installed the firewall part of it. You just have to choose "Custom Installation" during the installation of Panda Internet Security and unselect the firewall. Simple !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My god man don't do it. I just installed the whole suite and it crashed my Vista PC. I had to restore an image.

While it was working (for about 2 hours) it randomly granted access to several apps without notifying me, and it was not set up to auto-learn. Not very secure at all.

Back to Avira/OutpostFree for me.

There is a lot better software on this site that will do it for you. Maybe not in a suite, but indivdual programs that make it very secure. Good luck mate!

Why is it taking so long to get my activation code?????

by minimaxi on 22. October 2009 - 19:16  (35272)

have you entered phone number?

I have a Toshiba LT,my firewall is Online Armor (complete package),Microsoft Security Essentials and IObit Security 360 and so far there have been no visible problems or conflicts whatsoever...actually runs smooth with Firefox browser and faster with good load times...we threw some nasties at it and it was still fine...so for my needs I'm sticking with this for the moment.

My friend on the other hand with a similar LT is using Panda and the experience so far has been very poor, especially the Firewall which seems to have no use whatsoever being extremely weak and it has slowed down his machine considerably...I agree with CB...4% is pretty bad for a company that is promoting itself as one of the best.

And just for the record..."Free Range Chicken and Beef – because animals have rights too"...this may make a difference to the person eating the chicken put the chicken still ends up dead...what rights.Instead of fancy ads maybe they can start making better Firewalls.;-)

Hello,
I just registered with Panda Internet Security offer but am still not clear about this offer. I’m an XP user and the offer says “After submitting your registration, download and install the Windows 7 compatible Internet Security 2010″, so, is this a version only compatible for Windows 7 or only Windows 7 users are eligible for this offer? Any idea?
Thanks

A launch party for a Windows OS? You got to be kidding me right?

Windows 7 will have nice big security flaws just like every other OS they have ever made.

People forget about the "reliability" of NT 4.0 or the totally useless ME.

But they will line up like sheep to buy this.

ROTFLMAO

by rikmayell (not verified) on 22. October 2009 - 16:06  (35258)

Kidding or not, they'll be laughing all the way to the bank :)

Rather odd to lump NT 4.0, based largely on the now defunct VAX VMS, with ME? Without a single line of code in common how can they possibly be compared?

Odd.

I was just naming OS's that I used that were problematic. It has nothing to due with code. I used NT 4.0 at work, and like clockwork it would do a memory dump to the screen and require a complete re-install. The repair disk which was constantly updated and was of no use. And this was using service pack 4 through 6. Luckily Windows 2000 came along and made my life much better. As for Windows Me. It was not networkable like 98. So what was the point? They made you have to (in muy case 50) buy 50 seat licenses for Windows 2000. What a rip off. We stayed with 98 till 2005.

Stop thinking like a techie for a minute.

Btw, IBM was shipping their NetVista's for a while all with ME. Their servers came with Windows 2000. This for a comany who was primarily serving the business sector.

Odd.

The Kaspersky offer is only for WIN 7 launch party hosts and attendees.

by Anonymous on 22. October 2009 - 13:25  (35247)

How is it "US Only"? I realize the T&C says that on the page but they don't ask for your location and the phone number field is optional.

Filled it in and fully expect to receive a code.

by Anonymous on 22. October 2009 - 9:17  (35228)

by Anonymous on 22. October 2009 - 9:03  (35225)

Just downloaded program in Australia, no problem, but have not tried to install it yet, says activation code may take up to 1-3 days to arrive in email inbox, hope this helps.

by Anonymous on 22. October 2009 - 17:10  (35264)

you can still install and use panda internet security 2010 in trial mode until you receive your key. Then the key registration will turn it into a fully functional 1 year licence.
