Old version of SnagIt for free...

 Looks like a legit site.

I didn't try to get a code today because I got one a couple years ago when an earlier version was offered free...  Back then, one was eligible to upgrade pricing--not sure if that is still the case.  This is the first time I've seen it offered as a freebie since then :)  If anyone is success/un with getting a code, please post a reply ...

Highly recommended.  SnagIt is awesome!  -steve

Thanks. I note that the giveaway of SnagIt 7 serial license key is no more featured at the developer's website, but for those who're interested in free screen capture software, please try some freeware products recommended in this article Best Free Screen Capture Utility.

I downloaded this pgm (snagit725) in Dec 2007. So it has been on there a while!!

Sincerely,

Bobbie

You may want to check out FastStone Capture, it is portable, super lightweight, yet has many features that are useful including editing, annotation and saving to many formats including pdf.

Here is a link to the last free version (5.3). Even though I own the latest version of Snagit (9.1), I still find that there are many instances where I prefer to use FS Capture!

I agree. My desktop admin skills are considerably less than some of the other editors which is maybe why my reviews take twice as long to complete! I use FastStone for all my screenshots and if it works for me then it'll work for anybody.

I'm behind in checking email and RSS, as usual, and it's 10 June, and the provided link does not seem to work any longer. And so, of course I Googled it. Seems like it expired on 05 June.

I've used IrfanView for most of my screen capture and it seems to work pretty well. Most of the media players have some sort of screen capture or video capture, but it seems that Tech Smith offers a free download called "Jing"; http://www.jingproject.com, which I'm sure is a cut down version of Snagit. I haven't tried it yet, but hey, it's free so it's worth a try.

Please remove your graphic. Verical space is precious to us

SnagIt is THE screen capture software! They "Invented" screen capture, so to speak! But the version 7.2.5, which is the one offered here, does not work on Vista! Sometimes it works, sometimes doesn't and hangs. Unfortunately I uninstalled it. Will wait until version 8.2.0 is offered for free somewhere. This is the first Vista compatible ( see http://www.techsmith.com/snagit/history.asp )

....the link works and sends a licence code to the e-mail address specified.
Gr8 !!!

Sadly, the link does not work now (9-Oct-2009). Probably they have stopped offering it? Does anyone know of any other location from where I can download it?
Thanks.

I love SnagIt and use it regularly.

One of the things I use it for is to duplicate Target's online grocery coupons so I can make pages with more than one of each coupon, using narrow margins so I save paper and ink/toner.

Thank you for the info, now I can install it on my laptop. Yippee.

Thanks to Bob for the links - but in the original article, it might have been nice for the author to tell those of us who don't know what SNAGIT is!!!

I appreciate it's not the same kind of feature rich thing, but some might be interested in the tiny utility I've loved since I found it, Snippy.

Got it, needed it! :) TY!!! :) Yes, the key came in email right away, within seconds. Thanks for posting the download link, Bob! :) Thanks for the whole thing, Gizmo! :)

V.7 is *really* (really) old and never worked quite right.

Yes, you get upgrade pricing too!

I appreciate you mentioning this piece of software.

Just one thing, please: May I ask you to give a short description next time you recommend something? That would be nice. Thank you!

In the meantime, perhaps these links will help give an idea:

Yes, worked for me. Thanks Steve! I've been looking forward to trying SnagIt as it has advanced functions which could be useful for particular jobs.

The page you link to seems to be a legit magazine offer hidden away on the TechSmith (SnagIt) site.

In the absence of a magazine disk, one can download SnagIT 7.2.5 from here:
