Norton Systemworks Standard 12 Free (after $50 rebate)-Expired
Update: As of August 16, 2009, this offer is no longer available
I know....I know....I swore that I wouldn't be posting anymore Hot Finds.....But, I couldn't resist this one.
While I know that many people are not fans of Norton software products (bloated software), I have been a fan of Norton Utilities for quite some time. Plus, this software will run on Vista.
Norton Systemworks Standard 12 includes:
This offer is being made by Frys.com. They are offering Norton Systemworks 12 for free after a $50 rebate. The offer can be found at: http://www.frys.com/product/5772172 Please, please do not use this opportunity to blast all Norton/Symantec products. We know that there are a lot of you out there who will never use another Norton product. But, for those who like Norton Utilities or Norton AntiVirus, this is definitely a good bargain.

went there
the price is now $20 after the rebate.
The post clearly stated:
"Update: As of August 16, 2009, this offer is no longer available"
Plus, this hot find was posted well over a month ago. Most free offers of software are not good for over a month.
Norton 2009 products aren't bloated like the older versions! Same for 2010.
It seems we all agree,.. there's no such thing as a free lunch !
I thooght that "freebie" meant exactly that,.. no money required !
The title clearly stated "Free after $50 rebate". How much clearer do we need to be?

I agree. I also will NEVER again buy anything based on rebate. In my opinion, the words "after rebate" instantly invalidate the hot find...it is normal price.
Rebate items should no longer be listed in the hot finds.
Personally, I've learned from previous experience to NEVER count on rebates. I can count on 10 fingers the number that I have submitted (and probably add in a bunch more toes to include those that I've received).
I can count on 2 fingers those that I've actually received; NEITHER of which was for software.
I now treat ALL rebates as fraud. If you REALLY want Norton software for free, there are more reliable ways to get it. (Don't know why anyone would do that, though).
Mail in rebate offer and they want you to pick it up at the (nearest) store. It is available for Canada, but I shudder when I think of using a credit card at an unknown site. (Never did receive my first Norton rebate back).
It's always important to read the terms and condition of the rebate. I did and I'll pass. You don't get cash back. You get a Prepaid Visa card with $50.00 on it and you are not allowed to get a $50.00 cash advance from the card. And the rebate offer clearly states it is for the USA only.
I honestly do wish the people who post these hot finds from frys.com and other online retailers would check into how it actually becomes free to the user and remember to at least alert us to who can claim the rebate.
I recently saw a moderator(senior member or whatever) here chastise someone for posting a hot find that was limited in where it applied to country-wise.
Thank you for your future efforts.
Better hurry: offer expires today (Saturday, August 15).
On the rebate form: "Offer is good for purchases made between 8/15/09 and 8/15/09."
You can see if it's good outside the US by checking on it yourself!!!
So can the Hot Finds poster.
As much as I appreciate hot finds, it would be nice to know ahead of time that something is good only in the USA, as most of us live elsewhere.
Thank you.
