New Way to Get Air Flight Information with Google Search

Just in time for the summer travel season, Google announced today that it was making it easier to get flight information. It is now very simple to find out which airlines service a particular route and what the flight times are.

To get information about flights between two cities, say New York and Chicago, enter “flights from NYC to Chicago” in the Google search bar. You’ll still get ad links but near the top of the search results will be an entry “Flights from New York, NY (all airports) to Chicago, IL (all airports)” (figure below). Click the plus icon before “Schedule of non-stop flights” and you can see a detailed list of flights.

You can also get information about all flights from a given city. Enter “Flights from NYC” and a listing “Flights from New York, NY (all airports)” will appear (figure below). Click the plus icon and a long list of flights for you to study will appear.

Now you can start planning your vacation.

I can't seem to find this service. Is it just a normal Google search such as typing in "flights from Boston to Detroit" ? Also, does it include Canadian flights?

Use regular Google search. Look at the the third or so link down for a plus icon (like the figure in the tip article). Click it and a list will open. I tried a couple of Toronto itineraries and it worked.

This does not work for international European flights..

Worked for me, flights from EDI to LHR, no problem...

I can get European flights. I tried London-Paris, Paris-Copenhagen. Chicago-Frankfurt, NYC-Paris. They all worked

Hey Gareth, don't knock it, it's 13 degrees here and that's because the sun's out. That's summer where I come from.

Hello,

The summer travel season isn't coming up. In fact it is getting colder and colder.

There are more countries than the U.S. you know :-)

Cheers,

Gareth (Melbourne, Australia)

@Gareth:

You make a good point, of course. I should have noted that I was talking about the northern hemisphere. I didn't mean to slight the antipodes.

BTW, I've been in Melbourne. It's a very nice city.

@v.laurie'

Just confirming this search works for Australia as well.

I typed in "flights from Melbourne to Brisbane" and got a schedule of them all - very useful

And yeah, Melbourne is great most of the year. This time of the year sitting in front of a fireplace with friends is the go :-)

Cheers,

Gareth

This currently only works with non-stop flights.
