my utorrent is not working properly

Can you please help me????

My utorrent has not been working properly for the past one week.

Here's what happens:
At first, my internet is working fine with decent enough speeds. Then I open my utorrent and immediately my internet stops working and utorrent is unable to download anything. I have to disconnect my wireless adapter and then reconnect it for the internet to start working again....and then again if I open utorrent the same thing happens.

This has been happening for the past one week. It was working fine before that. All my friends living in the adjacent rooms(I live in a hostel and so use the internet provided by the college) get good enough speeds with the same settings as mine.
I have tried reinstalling but it doesn't work.....PLEASE HELP...

samething is happning to me to, i am instlling old version of azureus now

That usually is due to too many open connections coming from the bittorrent client overloading the router/modem and it should not make a difference which bittorrent client is used.

Also, the new versions of Vuze (f/k/a Azureus), can be set to "Classic" mode and that would be identical to the old Azureus, except that the new is superior to the old in RAM use and features.

Have you looked at Optimizing µTorrent for Speed as it has info and links to guides to help with that.

Basically it is forwarding your uTorrent port through any firewall or router by setting exceptions for uTorrent in them.

try capping the upload speed. most people recommend 80% of DL speed but try lowering it

That is a tough one. Usually too many open connections (over 200) is the cause, but since yours was working with the same settings before that probably does not apply. Might be worth trying to lower "Global Maximum number of connections" to 200 or less (Options>Preferences>Bandwidth)
Another usual cause, in your situation, is the blocking on the network. But since others on the same network are getting better speeds than you, that is unlikely.
The only other thing I can think of is to see if there is a firmware update for your wireless adapter.
