Make Mousing Friendlier With This Free Utility
One of the things that has annoyed me for years about Windows is that you have to click in any window to be able to scroll. This utility has removed that annoyance.
KatMouse is a program that adds new functions to your mouse.
It runs in the system tray and adds 'universal' scrolling to your mouse.
Moving the mouse wheel will scroll the window directly beneath the mouse cursor (not the one with the keyboard focus, which is default on Windows OSes).
In other words, Your mouse wheel works where ever you point your cursor.
Its a small utility (334 KB) and uses very little system resources.
KatMouse is one of the first programs I add to any new computer, it makes using a mouse so much easier.
KatMouse will run on NT(SP3+), Windows 2000, XP and Vista, but not 9x and ME. Although not officially supported, it runs fine on my Windows 7.

Rhiannon

With Taekwindow you can use the scroll wheel on the window under the cursor, instead of the currently focused window.
I found something much like this. It is called Wizmouse, from this website

Thank you so much for this link.
I was using Katmouse all this time, however I noticed on my test windows 7 notebook it failed...complaining that it could not "Hook"?
Now I have an alternative in mousewiz.
Regards,
Thanks, I'll have to try that one. Good to know there's another program out there that does about the same thing.
Nice concept this freeware has, but it interferes with the middle click function of Firefox (especially if you have Tab Mix Plus) unless you configure it via Wheel Button tab.
Thanks for the heads up. I have Firefox and Tab Mix Plus, though I haven't had a mouse with a middle click for years. The laptop has two buttons and a touch pad.
Thanks for the catch! I shouldn't be stringing words and numbers together when its late and I'm tired. = )
Hmmm... I don't consider 334 MB a *small* utility.
;^)
I'd guess you meant 334 KB?
Jeff
