Lost all sound from my speakers

Moved from the comments section of  "Best Free Audio Editing Software":

"I lost all my sound. speakers checked out fine. i right clicked speaker icon in bot task bar it did not show mute checked and settings were fine. what do i do next? gagalex@hotmail.com

Here is probably a good place to start for the most usual of problems. If it is still failing them maybe try back here. I assumed you are using Windows XP

Have you tried different speakers?
