Livebrush: Free Creative Graphics Software

As my knowledge of Adobe’s Illustrator is very minimal, I cannot easily compare Livebrush with the crème de la crème of drawing software. However, I do know that CS4 is expensive but Livebrush is free!

According to the website, ‘Livebrush is a drawing application. It employs an easy-to-use brush tool that reacts to your gesture. By combining simple motion controls with brush styles, Livebrush offers a fun and unique way to create graphics.’

  • Create your own decorations. Everything you create in Livebrush can be converted to a decoration.
  • Control the speed, angle, width, and many other parameters associated with your brush stroke.
  • Use a single color or an array of colors to create your line.
  • Draw with more than one brush at a time.
  • Export & Import styles. Share them with the community. Download more styles.
  • Export & Import other graphics.
  • Edit the lines you create. Transform the objects you import.
  • Use familiar layer-based editing.

There are two versions, Livebrush Free and the commercial Livebrush Pro which has these additional features:

    • Vector export
    • Canvas sizes
    • Over 100 styles and decorations

Works with Mac O/S X 10.4.9 or later and Windows 2000, XP or Vista.

Please note, you will need the latest version of Adobe’s Flash player installed in your browser and to receive Livebrush Free you must submit an e-mail address.
