LAPTOP HARD DRIVE ENCLOSURE
Last Update: Tue, 12/30/2008 - 04:54 — neyudii
I have a Toshiba MK8032GSX/HDD2D32 80GB laptop hard drive that I want to put into an external enclosure in order to salvage it since my laptop messed up. I bought a NEXXTECH enclosure in order to put it in but it seems that it doesn't fit. I was wondering if anyone happens to know what kind of enclosure I should get to put my hard drive in.
Much Thanks..

This was the only post I could find that specifically mentioned the type of drive I too am looking for an enclosure for. It came out of my (original) MacBook when I bought a bigger drive, and now I need a low-cost enclosure for it so I can either secure-erase the drive or use it as a backup. Judging by the date, you should have found an enclosure by now. What was it, and do you like it? Also, did you ever find out whether the drive is considered to be 2.5 or 3.5 inches? SATA, right? I measured mine, but it's 2 3/4" by 3 3/4" so that doesn't help.

The brand of enclosure doesn't matter as much as making sure that it's designed for your drive type (SATA or E-SATA or ATA) and is the right form factor, most likely 2.5 or 3.5 inches since it's a laptop drive. So check your drive's specs carefully and match them to an appropriate enclosure, and connect it according to instructions.
