Moderators Comments:

This user submitted item reads a bit like an ad but this is actually a pretty decent security suite from a reputable software company. There have been few reviews of this product though it was rated 4 out 5 by VNU editorial staff and by users here:

http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/downloads/2190796/iolo-system-shield

The suite consists of iolo AntiVirus, iolo Personal Firewall,Spython AntiSpyware, a Security Optimizer and a System Guard.

Until tested by an independent testing laboratory it is not possible to comment on the effectiveness of this product compared to other security suites.

Hi
Request code from IOLO more than a week ago, still no reply.
I decided against installing the software.
After all, there are other ones out there.

AFRICASIAEURO and SQUIDOO

I am pretty sure this program uses Command AV and an older F-prot scanning engine. At one time iolo advertised their av as an in-house product which was not at all true. I have stayed away from them since then.

To be fair it should be noted that the review DATE:06.25.07 is around 2 years ago and possibly improvements have been made since then.

I can't seem to find any recent independent reviews though :-(

So will stick to my free 6 month trial of Kaspersky Internet Security.

Cheers,

Paul.

Please check review below.
Doesn't seem to offer a worthwhile level of protection....

Judging by this review the product is not worth touching:

Doesn't appear to be very effective.

I also downloaded since i obtained a free license and after reading the reviews, I'll stick to avira, etc., the top rated freeware antivirus/firewall recommended here. cheers

In fact I have just read some users' comments and it looks like most of them are not satisfied with regard to its performance and protection. It is considered fair, not very protective and there is some difficulty with the updates. However I think everyone is free to try it and there are people who might find it satisfactory to their needs.
Cheers

Agreed Junkman. I installed and it slowed my system to a crawl (and I generally have a fast system) so I uninstalled. I like a good security program, but not one that impedes all other processes.

Can you pick and choose which security tools to actually run from the suite?

by Junkman on 25. March 2009 - 10:35  (18515)

Yes, I downloaded and installed it on my laptop(Vista Home Premium,32bit). It is OK in general but it slows my PC a little bit so I am not sure if I am going to use it much longer. I think it is a little too hard on system resources, but then again that may be due only to my laptop,s limited potential.

Anyone had any experience with this program? I've never heard of it before so I don't know if it's any good. Appreciated any comments from readers?
