Install Latest Adobe Flash Update in Firefox Without DLM getPlus - Again

How to install and uninstall Adobe Flash DLM in Firefox. Adobe has issued a security update for Adobe Flash Player. As with the last release, there’s a download manager included whether you want it or not. The download manager is called Adobe DLM (download manager) powered by getPlus.
If you haven’t already installed the update, you can head over to File Hippo for the latest versions without additives. :) Uninstallation in Windows can be done via the Control Panel or by using the uninstaller at the Adobe site. Mac users, as far as I can tell, need to use the Mac version of the uninstaller.

File Hippo Flash Download Page:
- Download Flash Player 10.0.42.34 (Non-IE)
- Download Flash Player 10.0.42.34 (IE)

Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller:
- How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control

Martin at ghacks has an installation workaround in this article if you’d rather download directly from the Adobe site.

Call me paranoid, but I feel safer downloading software directly from the original source. Here are the file locations:

Adobe Flash for IE: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player...

Adobe Flash for Firefox, Safari, Opera: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player...

You will note that these URLs don't specify version numbers, but just say "current." So you can re-visit these locations anytime you want an update.

I wouldn't say paranoid at all - it makes sense to be very careful of what and where you download things. I'm fine with File Hippo - several software authors have links to download their programs there - Ccleaner comes to mind. I've used them for a few years with no trouble. If I didn't have that history with them I would go to the main vendor site too.

Adobe products tend to be somewhat bloated, and can leave a lot of excess "junk" on your computer after a CP uninstall. I've always used Revo Uninstaller which seems to get rid of all the leftovers. Never tried Adobe's uninstaller.

I have tried the Adobe Flash Uninstaller, and it works. Removes the files, and does not leave traces. I agree that Adobe's products are bloated... I have stopped using Adobe Reader ages ago.

The uninstaller is very useful, as without it, sometimes, files of Adobe Flash can be left behind, and looking at the number of vulnerabilities it has, its not safe.

I had read the Ghacks article, and its useful one.
