Hundreds of Free, Fascinating Talks Online
I was recently lucky enough to attend a TEDx conference in the UK. TED is an internationally recognised conference phenomenon which holds events all around the world. TEDx is an extension of that, involving additional events that are independently organised but still under the TED banner.
Talks at TED events, which usually last around 30 minutes, cover everything from technology to art to medicine to music. And almost all of the talks are available online for you to watch at your leisure, free of charge. Right now, the site at www.ted.com/talks has almost 900 talks available. So next time you've got a few minutes spare, and feel like being inspired, head over to the site and pick a topic.

How in the world have I missed this site in my meanderings? Thanks muchly for the info....
I have most of my favorites organized in drop-down menus. TED.com is one of only three sites with a link directly on my bookmarks toolbar.
FYI - For those with iPads and iPod Touches, there is a TED app in the app store.
For a long time a link to TED has been residing om my Firefox Bookmarks Tool Bar which is reserved for my absolutely most important links.
In my opinion TED.com has to be up there towards the top of the best on the web. "Ideas Worth Spreading" is spot on.
If you subscribe to the podcasts, as I do on my iPod, then you always have something fascinating to interest you when travelling on public transport.
Of recently released talks - Martin Jacques: Understanding the rise of China comes to mind as particularly eye-opening.
Just one little quibble: the talks are usually between 15 - 20 minutes not 30 and sometimes even 10. That's the beauty of them, they are short!
It is great for my English language students that there are transcripts and in some cases translations.
Technology, Entertainment and Design. I can't recommend TED highly enough!
Lovely. Thanks so much for this. Some really good speakers and really good topics. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for that. I intend to check them out fully as some look really interesting
