Codecs
The article in the February issue of Tech Support Alert on codecs concerned me because I have Gordian Knot installed on my system. Does this program have the legal or illegal versions of the codecs?

Thanks, Peter. Your response is very helpful!
The whole issue of codecs illegality is deeply complex.
The "illegality", if any, refers to copyright violations. Every country has different laws and different practices. As far as I know, "Gordian Knot" is released under a GNU General Public License (GPL) . I have never heard of anyone using GPL sware "in good faith" getting into any kind of trouble.
The issue would be between the original makers and copyright holders of GK, and those who have copied and/or distributed it, not necessarily those who use it.
