Gold Wave Editor Pro free today,  May 23, ONLY on Give Away Of The Day (GOTD)

Today's give away from GAOTD is an attractive audio editing and mastering program which is quickly notching up an unusual number of appreciative comments on the GAOTD site. And no wonder! It sports a variety of rare features including, for example, a text to speech function which actually works rather well. My first impressions using this program have been uniformly excellent.

Here are some screenshots of Gold Wave Editor Pro user interface which will give you an idea of the program's capabilities, look and feel.

From the developer's description:

But if you take time to explore the other features you will find many powerful tools designed with the professional sound engineer in mind.

Here is one of the comments on GOTD; it seems to me to provide quite a balanced view of this program.

#36 by Renegade:
"This is an excellent audio software product that I think stands out in the crowd. It can record from anything; a sound card, streaming audio, CDs, video files, MIDI files, and has more audio tools and visual aids than any other audio editor GAOTD has put up in the past. The program is compatible with a variety of formats including several WAV formats, AIFF, MP4, and everyone’s favorite WMA (…lol). There’s an effects plug-in interface, every effect and filter is adjustable, features real-time visuals, previews, the toolbars are customizable, and you can even change the colors on the visuals. Performance wise this program processes the edits faster than any other alternatives mentioned or offered here before. You can instantly record whatever is playing on the sound card, which is nice.

"There is a down side with all of this which is for a “lesser experienced” user, the more advanced features can be overwhelming. However, the program is well enough supported to flatten out that learning curve a bit, which is important because a user can easily become inpatient enough to bag the whole thing and say, “forget this I’m out of here!” So basically, I would recommend this program to anyone that wants to do some major audio editing, to movie makers looking for an easy and effective ways to edit their sound tracks, to anyone seriously interested in audio editing, and to anyone who just wants to have fun and learn about digital audio."

No expert, but my first impressions of this software are excellent!

As a first test I tried to trim some recorded wav files (protected?) for which I hadn't been able to find any freeware solution. Success. And the program is really feature rich with a good user friendly interface.

My advice - Get this freebie today while you can.
