Get Paragon Drive Backup 9 Professional FREE (Expired)

Sorry this offer has now expired

Paragon Software is giving away free copies of the full commercial version of their drive backup program for a limited time on the v3.uk.co (formerly vnunet) site.

Here is the link to the product description page:  http://www.v3.co.uk/vnunet/downloads/2158058/paragon-drive-backup that also contains the download link and full instructions.

Here's an excerpt from that description:

"Protecting your system is relatively easy. You can schedule a backup so that it backs up your important files at either the end of every working day or week. This can be an automated process so it all happens overnight and your system goes to sleep, once the backup is complete.

"Paragon's Drive Backup is a backup tool that will backup an image of either your entire hard drive or a partition.

"Better still, with the new Hot Backup function, you'll be able to backup your data whilst you're still working on your computer, with minimum impact."

I've personally used several Paragon products over the past 5 years - both free and commercial versions, and found them to be of high quality and non-disruptive to my computers' systems.  They simply do what they're supposed to do and do it well.

I found out this product IS NOT free, only the download is. After I downloaded, I have been trying since Friday to get the serial number at the registration site during the install. I keep getting wrror that document does not exist. I called Paragon and was told that for this version, you must pay - but the download is free. They have a stripped down version which does nothing which is free.

Just tried the Paragon sw - the recovery disk does not work - to me this seems like its crappy beta software that should not be given/sold to unsuspecting users. They should probably be shot for giving this away free.

I'm going back to Acronis True Image, its by far the best by a huge leap and bound, and most reliable and the recovery boot disk detects just about everything under the sun.

by J.L. on Sun, 08/30/2009 - 05:46  (#31895)

Oh yes it does work. In fact very well. Just don't use the flash drive for older motherboards, Paragon will formats it into NTFS and they can't boot from that. If a cd doesn't work, then either your Paragon is corrupted, or the cd isn't clean and blank (not to mention hardware problems).

Also Paragon is far from a "crappy beta software". Just because you haven't noticed it before doesn't mean you can post a prejudicial, deceitful, and detrimental comment giving other users the wrong idea.

by Anonymous on Mon, 08/31/2009 - 23:07  (#31961)

My CD's are perfect and my hardware burns disks perfectly.
The point is that if Paragon does not recognise all hardware & drives,
then I cannot use it. So yes, there are hardware problems, because Paragon does not recognise my hardware - if the bootdisk only boots on some hardware then it is crappy as far as I am concerned.

This is based on hard fact and is NOT deceitful. If you took the time to read some of the other comments below, there are others with the same problem.

PS How long have you been the Paragon Sales Representative?

by Anonymous on Sat, 08/29/2009 - 19:20  (#31867)

During the install, when I click on "Get Free Serial" the install ends with the message "The wizard was interrupted before Paragon Drive Backup 9 Professional could be completed. Click finish to exit the wizard." I therefore am unable to get the serial number to continue. Any suggestion?

by Anonymous on Sat, 08/29/2009 - 16:17  (#31863)

Can anyone help with this?
When I try to do a backup Paragon does not recognise any of my dvd writing devices. I have looked at the help on Paragon's site, there is a technical answer which is o.k. if you are able to understand it.

When the Paragon tech. team know there is a problem, why do they not fix it.

Any help would be appreciated.

THIS PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE FREE ALL THE TIME. IT IS NOTHING MORE THAN A BACK UP TO DISC PROGRAM WHICH ALL COMPUTERS HAVE ALREADY. OF COURSE YOU CAN "BUY "THEIR REALLY GOOD PROGAM

by Anonymous on Sun, 08/30/2009 - 00:23  (#31885)

No it is not free all the time, usually it costs around £10. Additionally, none of the lesser versions of recent Windows, e.g. XpHome and VistaHome, have even a backup program let alone a program that allows you to image the system partition/disk while you are working on it or restore it using a bootable recovery CD/DVD, which is what this does, among other things.

by Anonymous on Sat, 08/29/2009 - 15:19  (#31858)

D'load link was in 37, not 35. Seems to be working so far.

by Anonymous on Sat, 08/29/2009 - 14:57  (#31856)

The original link was for a demo/trial version. Use the link in post 16 or 35.

by Anonymous on Sat, 08/29/2009 - 15:02  (#31857)

Okay, Thanx! I'll give it a try. Thanx for the quick response!

by Anonymous on Sat, 08/29/2009 - 14:33  (#31855)

D'load took about 15 minutes, installed, copied & pasted product key and s/n and...Registration info is WRONG! Won't let me have it. Is there really that much difference between this and personal? Would the Personal be enough for my needs? I'm wanting to use something better than what I have, Mozy Free. Everytime I do a reinstall using Mozy, I lose most everything, especially programs I get from you and Giveaway of the day.

You should be prompted for a serial number during the first few screens of installation. In that screen, there is a link to click that will open a web page to enter your name and email. Then an email will be sent to you with your serial key. Hope all goes well.

Did not get these prompts either. And I cannot find a link that looks for my name and email. Help please...

Please describe what happens when try to install, and I will try to help. It should be the first few screens of install. Thanks

by Anonymous on Sat, 08/29/2009 - 14:12  (#31852)

I clicked the link to download the product. It installs perfectly and when the installation is complete, it says a reboot is required to complete installation. After the reboot the product is installed. When I open it, it say I have a 30 day trial and looks for the serial number etc. I was never prompted to enter my name and email during installation.

by Anonymous on Sat, 08/29/2009 - 14:13  (#31853)

And I uninstalled / reinstalled twice just to see if I missed something.

by Anonymous on Sat, 08/29/2009 - 14:27  (#31854)

I just tried the link from post #16. I was prompted for my name and email and I have received the proper info for registration.

by Anonymous on Sat, 08/29/2009 - 01:29  (#31788)

Downloaded and installed perfectly. Registration was a breeze, received reg key almost instantly. Imaged 250 gig hard disk in about 22 minutes. Great find!
Thanks a bunch!

I have Acronis and it allows me to make a disk that will boot from Dos in XP. This disk will allow me to make an image file of my C: partition from dos.
Will DB9 Prof do the same? or will I only be able to image the C: partition in Windows XP itself?

Thank You
Hal

Unfortunately, vista 64-bit operating system is NOT supported, as usual.

by Anonymous on Fri, 08/28/2009 - 16:38  (#31745)

Just downloaded and installed(everything in virtual, everything went well untill licenseing and registration. Both were received almost immediately and I pasted same, however, the registration was deemed as invalid. I made sure there were no spaces in front or elsewhere, and I checked the numbers I pasted against what paragon sent to me and everything was correct. No harm since I performed all in virtual, but am wondering what the problem might be.

by Anonymous on Fri, 08/28/2009 - 18:44  (#31752)

ok, well I downloaded and installed again, this time not in virtual and I changed browsers(originally used k-meleon),used ie this time and for whatever the reason, license key was accepted.

by Anonymous on Fri, 08/28/2009 - 15:56  (#31744)

Is there a way to obtain a copy of the actual installation software instead of just the link to download and install?

I've registered and installed the software without problem, but I'd like to archive a copy of the installation software, just in case, instead of depending on a link.

Thanks a lot for the great tip on this nice giveaway.

by Anonymous on Sun, 08/30/2009 - 00:07  (#31884)

Are you saying that you actually chose 'Run' rather than 'Save' when you clicked on the download link. If so, go back to the link and simply click 'Save' instead of 'Run' when you click the Download link then store it wherever you like. Not forgetting to save a copy of any registration details supplied by Paragon of course as they should work for any copies of the same download. It has worked in the past for me when I have downloaded their free offerings and had to redownload another copy.

Additionally, if you don't want to do downlaod another copy for whatever reason, depending on how you your system is setup, the install file might still be in one of your caches. For instance, on a Windows PC it might possibly be in your Temporary Internet Files folder. Just do a search for pdb_tr.msi on whichever drive has your various temporary files, usually the system drive if you haven't changed their location yourself.

by Anonymous on Sun, 08/30/2009 - 01:42  (#31890)

Thanks very much for your reply. I goofed. (red face) The original download of the msi file was so quick (seconds) that I didn't realize it was 87+MBs. I ran it, assumed it downloaded the necessary software during the installation, and then deleted it. I've logged into my Paragon account, downloaded another copy of the free-version msi file and archived it. Thanks again for your time. Cheers.

Question about the product. With the freebie backup/drive imagers it seems like jpeg files and other media files cause issues from what I've read. Will this app back them up without those problems?

Download painfully slow but finally on instal and registration messages advised that OS ( am using XP media) was not catered for and registration was not available because my country is Australia.
A little bit of honest advice prior to a six hour download would be appreciated.

Both mentioned DL locations work... BUT... one says 9 hours and 40 minutes but actually took 4 hours and 13 minutes!... BUT then it had a corrupted file in it and wouldn't install.... the "alternative" DL location, http://dl.paragon-software.com/free/DB9_Prof_free_en.msi takes only 45 minutes to download, but alas, seems to have the SAME corrupted file which terminates the install. The product key and S/N arrived in good time.... but is not Copy & Pasteable.... So what am I complaining about... it's free ins't it?

by Anonymous on Fri, 08/28/2009 - 01:20  (#31703)

Download does work, it is VERY SLOW to connect. Took over 30min to start download and over 5 hr to download the file, it is only 87.7mb or so. Just have to let it catch up with the server. Im guessing it is way over loaded.

Got it and reg-key today. Noticed they also give away the "Personal Version" free at their site (Paragon) only seems to be 4 megs less than the Pro version.
Probably not all that much difference to the average user, between the two offerings. Thanks for the notification tho!

by Anonymous on Thu, 08/27/2009 - 12:47  (#31646)

Doesn't work from FRANCE.
Do they really want to give it for free ? They should maintain the offer during some days( until it works !!).

Thank you for your good site and sorry for my bad English

The download link is now showing not found with both FF & Chrome , from France.

However , the website page (Gizmo link) shows this request , if you scroll down :-
Quote
"Serial Code & Distribution Rights

Follow the instructions within the installer to obtain your serial code. Incisive Media are licensed distributors of this software from Paragon Software. Please do not link directly to the download nor host on alternative server. Respect the licensing rights and the wishes of Paragon Software. This software is not freeware.

Note that this download is only available until midnight (BST) of the 28th of August 2009." unquote

The links direct to Paragon seem to work OK (I have not followed through , yet!) , but may not be in the spirit of the offer.

Peraps Gizmo could advise us .

I gave in to my cheaper principles and used the Paragon links provided. Key and ID by return after registering . 3 minute download - it was annotated "techsupport.alert"" in my download manager ?! (unusual)

Key & ID copy/paste OK using Ctl +C & +V (as requested in their Email)

Needed two tries to install - due to my firewall settings being very picky. No problems otherwise.

Looking forward to running it.

Many thanks Gizmo and team & helpful (anonymous) posters.

Take care

Worked for me (USA). After clicking on the download link and getting the "site not found" blank web page, I had to reload the page several times, then my download window finally popped up and began the download. Got the key, by following the instructions from within the installer, successfully as well.

by keroffs on Wed, 08/26/2009 - 20:54  (#31585)

Download link worked for me, although it took a very long time to come up.
I am in USA, but I would think it would also work at least in least the UK as it is a UK site.

by ianjrichards on Wed, 08/26/2009 - 21:32  (#31586)

It worked just now for me in Australia but Keroffs is correct, it is very slow. It took about 30 seconds for the Firefox download popup to appear and another minute before it actually started downloading. The download rate itself was agonizingly slow.

All this points to the likelihood their servers are overloaded. So you need to be patient or come back later.
