Avira Security Company is the best in terms of total PC protection. Easy to use and upgrade.

The promotion expired yesterday.

Somehow, I was able to get the 3 months free. I happened to fill out the License request form at the link in the first post before reading this post. I received an email with my reqistration key file and link to download the program. It's working just fine!

Installation is asking Product Key. But the email is asking the purchase details. What is this and how to resolve?

Thanks Gizmo, I'm a huge fan of Antiv Personal, been using for last 2 yrs and have several friends and family swearing by it. Since, I've never been infected or had any virus issues. Ironically, right after I read a review on PCMAG giving it a very poor rating 2/5, still praising the antivirus, I stumbled across the 6 mth free license here. I installed it out of curiosity. I began sensing the same problems commented on the review above, but tolerated until the 3rd day when it's web guard blocked a site I've visited in past with no problems then it blocked all search engines giving me a blank page, google, yahoo, etc. I clicked defaults values on the control panel and webguard, nothing, but disabling it restored my search engines. It took me but 30 secs to uninstall and reinstall Antivir Personal. I'm sorry, but the Premium Security Suite gets 2 thumbs down!

I guess Avira's Firewall cannot compare to Comodo Firewall but if you have been using the Window's Firewall, then using Avira's firewall instead would be a much better alternative, since Window's firewall is completely useless. Moreover, this is a complete security suite, and it covers almost every aspect of PC and Web Surfing security, and in this regard Avira's is one of the best.

Hey Gizmo,

I am already running AntiVir Premium until and my license expires on 7/9/2009. I also run Zone Alarm Pro which is due for renewal on 11/9/2009.

My questions are:

1. Can I get the Avira Security Suite and have the Antivir Premium Licence that forms part of it only commence after my existing Anti-Vir Premium Licence expires, or do I have to activate the Suite now so I don't miss the offer (I already emailed Avira and they sent me a license key for the Suite, but I don't know if I have a limited time in which to activate it!)?

2. Do you know if I could selectively run parts of the Suite or will the Suite's firewall conflict with Zone Alarm Pro if I run it? Which firewall is better? Zone Alarm or Avira's?

Any advice you could give on the above would be greatly appreciated!

I have Avira Antivir Premium and my license expires 7/9/2009 also but got another key from the 6 month link above and just activated the key and it added 6 more months to my premium license. I guess you don't have to download the Security Suite to use another key.

Whats Avira's firewall like? How does it compare to freeware like Online Armour or Comodo? I have OA and Avira AV running on my machine and am quite happy but am tempted by the ease of having a 1-in-all suite but I wonder is it worth the trouble of dismantling my set up?

stay as you are now!!! supreme combo!!

Check out Matousec's firewall-challenge website. From memory Avira's firewall did poorly.

Avira always has LOTS of promotion

I still got Avira Premium until July and I'm quite fond of it. How long is this offer available for? Just want to know so when my premium finishes I can try the security suite.

by gizmo.richards on 16. April 2009 - 1:50  (19937)

Based on past experience I expect this offer to be around for one month. The license itself is good for six months.

Can you combine two or more licenses to get a year or more? I don't know but again past experience with these offers has been that the six months free period starts from registration and you must register while the offer is current - registering in six months time wont work.

I`ve registered and got a key per email. Do you think it is possible to import this key in two month and get the four left month? Or do I have to import it right now?

Thank you for your reply Gizmo

Will Avira Security Suite's Firewall disable the windows firewall or there is also an option not to use it?

by Anonymous on 16. April 2009 - 8:15  (19958)

You can choose which parts of the suite you'd like to install, no need to install the firewall if you don't want to.

But if you choose to install it as well, it asks you if you would like to disable the built-in Windows firewall, and it's actually strongly recommended to do so.

Thank you for the information regarding Avira's firewall.

Thank you again.

I have really started to like this company. Went to the web sit entered my e-mail and bang got the new key straight away. I even registered and and went into my account. It was all there. Every key I have received just in case I lost one. I was a Norton users for many years until I discovered the Gizmo's web site about 5 years ago when it was 46 of the best freeware. Finally about two years ago I dropped Norton for Avira and never looked back. Yes Avira will give false positives, but I will take that over the ones missed any day :)

Cheers
