Hello Gizmo,
I just couldn't seem to get this comment to be posted--will give it one more try.
-------------------------------
During the installation I got a warning msg from the program, which said that installing it on the same drive that you'll recover files from will cause the files on that drive to be permanently overwritten and unrecoverable. What does that mean--are you supposed to install the program on a different drive than the one you use?
Thanks for answering my question,
NT
Sorry about the double post--I forgot that the newest posts on your site go to number 1 instead of the end of the list. I'll try to remember next time.
Your captcha does not seem to be working right. Anyway, the reason I am posting is that I was going to download your most excellent offer until I realized that I had already gotten version 4.3.6 recently (from GAOTD, if I remember correctly), but thanks anyway for your offer in case I missed GAOTD's/
Hi,
In your download you have DRW443.ZIP
But in your unpack you have DRW433.ZIP.
It is causing firefox a headache ... "I think "
But I do not know for sure .
?????
selgor
It's 433. I changed it to the correct version.

thanks
I wil give it a try seem a Plus...I home i coould install in the next few days...out of town.
When I clicked on the link, Firefox (V 3.6 Beta 2) gave this warning:
"This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect
securely to download.techsupportalert.com.s3.amazonaws.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely,

If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue."
I had to override the protection to download the file. Anyway I am in Returnil Safe mode. I will check the downloaded file with my antivirus software before installing it, again while Returnil is in safe mode.

There is a simple explanation for this: it's because the download link is redirected. When this happens, Firefox rightly tells you that something unexpected has happened.
In any case you must always scan downloads and so on before use. However you must choose your scanner wisely - some report they have scanned the file and it is clean, when in fact they cannot scan within compiled code (like SuperAntiSpyware for example).
If there is a demand for it, we could provide an MD5 hash. What do you think?

Sorry about the multiple postings of my last comment, Gizmo--it wouldn't show up the first few times, and then they all did at once!

No problem. We seem to be undergoing a slight refresh issue at the moment. :)
Thanks! I've been happy with EASEUS partition management app that was given away in the past. I'm interested in giving this product a try.
Thanks
big thanx Gizmo!!
Be aware that this is a VERY optimistic undelete utility. On both NTFS and FAT16 drives it appears to indiscriminately list every file for which it finds a file name. For example, on an NTFS drive it listed every file in a Mozilla Sunbird installation that's been gone for 8+ months from a VERY full NTFS volume. A spot check of the Javascript (.js) files using the EASEUS Preview feature confirmed that the "files" were binary gibberish and not human-readable Javascript, including files small enough to fit in a single sector. EASEUS happily "recovers" the unrecoverable files without comment.
If EASEUS discriminates recoverable from non-recoverable files, it doesn't seem to indicate it through the user interface. I created and Shift+Deleted a small .txt file, then ran the utility again. The (recoverable) deleted file was displayed with the same "overstrike 'd'" icon as unrecoverable files.
Also, heed their warning about recovering to the same drive. Seriously. I created and Shift+Deleted a small .txt file on an NTFS volume, then ran EASEUS on the same volume. It listed the deleted file, but was unable to Preview it, probably because EASEUS itself was using the sector for its deleted file tree. (EASEUS was the only app writing to disk while I did this test.) This has more to do with the perverse way in which NTFS often prefers to write to the most recently freed sectors instead of the oldest free sectors, but be advised that EASEUS is not restricting itself to memory when it runs.
I find it very frustrating to see a file on the undelete list only to find that it's unrecoverable, worse still to recover a file and discover that it's gibberish. I was really happy that EASEUS was so quick, but I realize now that slower apps like Restoration are simply doing a more thorough job of evaluating whether a deleted file is still patent.
Nevertheless, EASEUS is still useful and still FREE (yay!), but you'll be frustrated using it if you don't keep these points in mind.
Nice software,could come in useful.
Thanks a lot,
Bob.
On the howtogeek link, they have this comment: "Another free service they offer for fully licensed customers is document repair for PST, XLS, DBX, and DOC files"
So I'm assuming that since this download is the '69.95' version, that we're considered fully licensed customers and we'll have access to the document repair service?
Cheeky but I like your style.
EASEUS would probably answer in a similar cheeky vein "yes you get the support but only during the 24 hour download period" :)
The website has instructions on how to include this program on a BartPE disk: http://www.easeus.com/winpe-for-data-recovery.htm so I'm pretty confident that it is portable. It does require that it be installed to the system beforehand but that is so that you can oopy the files from the install directory to the BartPE plugins folder. Once you have creted the image or disk you can uninstall the software from the system.
My curiosity, are we forced to install it to-day only or can we download and save the installer for future use (i'm out of home today...).
TY
There is no registration requirement when you install so presumably you can install it any time.
Gizmo
Quick and easy to download & install as described . Great offer.
Thanks Gizmo .
Regarding portability: I've looked at the manual on the Easeus website and can't find anything relating to portability -- in fact, they are careful to repeat the requirement that the product is installed to a known good drive.
There's a routine that sometimes helps this stuff, particularly if a product doesn't specifically support portability: install it somewhere non-portable (but still not the drive from which you want to recover deleted files -- there is no safe, normal way to write data to a drive that doesn't risk harm to the prospect of recovery of deleted files!) copy the folder it's been installed to to your memory stick / portable drive, remove the latter (just for safety) using Safe Remove, then uninstall the product again from the Control Panel.
True portability means not writing data to the registry, and supporting relative paths. You might not achieve those by this route, and -- if the program installs bits of itself elsewhere (like anywhere in the \windows tree, for instance) this approach won't work.
I'm off to try it now: I'll let you know if it works. :-)
[A bit later]
The above approach seems to have worked. I haven't checked for registry writes and so forth, but logic suggests that the program, if it does what it says on the packet it comes in, would avoid deliberately doing anything that might result in damage to deleted files and would probably therefore avoid writing anything anywhere post-installation.
This sort of tool is obviously extremely useful on a portable medium. I've successfully used older versions of it and therefore suspect that this is a definite keeper.
Gizmo, my thanks!

Great suggestion & info! Many Thanks, --Bsvols
Many Thanks another fine offering :D
Hey Giz this is actually pretty good - much better than I expected. Looks like Gizmos scores again. Can I put this on a USB stick? - Ken
Is the program portable?
thx
