Free Web-Based Service Keeps A Constant Eye On Your Web Site

If you run a web site, you probably find yourself logging into it a few times a day, just to make sure it's still working properly.  If so, here's a free web-based service that could save you time and help keep your site running even more smoothly.

The system is called Monitor Us, and you can find it at http://mon.itor.us.  Sign-up is free, and once you're registered you can enter the URL of the sites you want to monitor.  From now on, the system will "ping" your site every 60 minutes or so, and you can log in any time to see a graph of performance.  The stats include the ping response time, and the percentage uptime of your site.  So if there's been a problem at some point in the last day or so, you'll know about it.

mon.itor.us

Wow. What a waste of an "itor.us" domain! [grin]

Seriously, though, most companies which do what this one did regarding its domain have more clever sub-domains which can be usesd; and always have something at the domain without a sub-domain. But, hey, whatever blows their hair back. Plus, yes, I get the audible, at least, connection to the parent company name, Monitis. Got it.

Anyway, interesting site and service. Nice recommendation. I like that they were smart enough to develop entire phone apps for it. Good move.

Gonna' try it out, forthwith.

ADDENDUM: Okay, signed-up, and it's obviously more interested in just whetting one's appetite for the paid service. It's not bad, don't get me wrong, but I've seen better. Most interesting, though, is that it's now part of GFI, which makes backup software... the freeware version of which actually isn't bad.

May I ask if you have seen better why not recommend them? Is that not what this site is for? It would be nice to know what they are if there are comparable sites.
Thank you
