Free Version Of ZoneAlarm Pro (expired)

Here's something that members and visitors alike may find of use. On October 13th, Check Point are giving away free licences for ZoneAlarm Pro. The cost of a licence is normally $39.95 and the giveaway is for one day only. The licence is for up to 3 computers and lasts for one year. According to the ZoneAlarm website the Pro version boasts the following:

  • Advanced Download Protection
  • Free Credit Bureau Monitoring
  • OSFirewall
  • Anti-phishing and Site Status

Expect demand to be very high as the last time they ran a similar promotion their servers crashed!

Moderators comment:
Please note that neither of these links are active at the moment (11th October).  If they remain so on the day of the offer it will be because a new one has been setup from the vendor's main page.

Enjoy!

This was a great offer. I appreciate someone bringing this to people's attention. Right now I am using Zone Alarm Free, but I got the download and will try it when I have time. O have subscribed to your Hot Finds e-mail so I don't miss any in the future.

by Anonymous on 14. October 2009 - 10:29  (34622)

Whatever the problems with this offer, and they seem many,
it has NOTHING to do with Gizmo and this site.
It has to do with the execution of this offer by Checkpoint, such as not telling anyone that the offer starts at 6AM on the 13th, thereby frustrating and inconveniencing many people who rightly assume that the 13th means the 13TH, and NOT 6AM the 13th until 6AM ON THE 14TH!
Whatever anger and irritation that you may have, please direct it to where it is deserved, AT CHECKPOINT.
And send Checkpoint an email expressing your views and feelings!
Also, please maintain appreciation and thanks for Gizmo and all the great work that he is doing for us.
Thanks Gizmo!

Thanks GIZMO for finding this offer. Keep on coming up with the findings like this. Keep it up. THANKS A TON TO GIZMO TEAM.

Of course I agree with #1 ! Thanks Gizmo !

http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/sum/index-b.html

This link given a few posts before this one is still registering email address and Name without card info. May be sending links for downloading later. Even in the first link given by gizmo it asks for Cd back up and other supplementary softwares which you can deselect or fill with '0' so that you can get base program cost with full discount coupon at zere price and asking for personal details. I did not farther and did not register my personal details and card info. May be with care it is working. Read other posts before this and try carefully.

Problem I see is that apparently the key they send you is only valid on Oct 13 & 14 which means that you have to install ZA on up to 3 computers by Oct14th and you will not be able to reinstall it incase of reinstalling Windows.

by Anonymous on 14. October 2009 - 3:53  (34603)

Where do you see that? The email I received stated:

"Note: this license key is valid "10/13/09 to 10/14/10."

They know that people have to reinstall their OS or have conflicts with other security programs, and might have to reinstall ZA Pro months from now.
I would find it hard to believe they would turn this into a Giveawayoftheday.com type, especially with so many free firewalls rated as excellent by Matousec.com, and MS Security Essentials being offered for free.

I'm amazed at how many people don't read correctly and post incorrect things. It's amazing some of you are able to log onto the internet and post to this site.

by Anonymous on 14. October 2009 - 2:11  (34597)

it's available, but I am NOT giving'em my VISA card info... a bit offensive.

by Anonymous on 14. October 2009 - 2:36  (34600)

You don't have to. Just click on the promotion on the provided website address and it will just ask for e-mail address. The download link will be forwarded to e-mail address provided.

by Anonymous on 13. October 2009 - 20:44  (34584)

Those of you who are complaining that you are asked to give credit card info are being redirected to a slightly different url. As reported elsewhere,
just add a -b to the url as follows:

http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/sum/index-b.html

then click "download now" and you'll get the pop-up that asks for your email.
No credit card info is necessary. It will take an 1-2 hours for Zonelabs to sent the license and the link to download the software.

Don't blame Gizmo or anyone who contributed this offer. For some reason the Zone Alarm link doesn't redirect everyone to the url with the -b and people are submitting credit card information needlessly.

As someone else has pointed out, Zone Alarm is a real pain to uninstall.
It's a pretty secure firewall and takes control of your computer (your computer can't access the net until the firewall loads which is a good thing, actually). However, sometimes the uninstall can delete registry strings needed to access the net. They have a pretty good forum with alot of information. Obviously the best situation is to have another computer handy to access the net for help if the ZA uninstaller causes problems.

Recommendation - when buying a new computer - always keep your old one around!

by Anonymous on 14. October 2009 - 4:36  (34607)

If a user is using firefox then please use this link because the link provided on the top of this page (which excludes -b) also work with firefox. But if you are using IE8 then both the links are directed to the correct download page.

According to ZAP release history, a "cleaner uninstall" was included/added since version 8.0.400.020 (june 09).

by Anonymous on 13. October 2009 - 22:07  (34591)

There are two "Download Now" button and if the user click on the bottom one then they have to provide credit card information. All users please use the "Download now" button where the info is given about the promotion.

by Anonymous on 13. October 2009 - 18:37  (34575)

To those saying you need to enter credit card info. You are wrong. Did you even go to the link and fill in you name and email or did you just see what someone else wrote and assume they were right? Go to the link, enter name and email, and then a short time later you will get an email with the license key. No credit card needed!

by Anonymous on 13. October 2009 - 22:01  (34590)

Have you checked your e-mail and downloaded the software. As on submitting the details the message was "you will be send with a purchase link in your e-mail". As i can't check my personal e-mail in office so can you please verify. Thanks.

PS; Gizmo I am thinking of unsubscribing from your site as I don't think you are following up on what you are offering. Makes me wonder what else I will waste my time on.
No decission yet but will watch you close.
I suggest the rest of your readers do the same.

Leave your suggestions to your self...

by MidnightCowboy on 13. October 2009 - 20:03  (34583)

Well, I guess that means we won't need to waste our time either reading ungrateful comments about stuff which is posted by considerate members in the belief that it might help others.

"No decission yet - I am thinking of unsubscribing from your site"
I won't offer to correct the spelling as per our site policy but how about some help?
"Goodbye".

This is a community based site, offering reviews on freeware with the help of several editors giving their time. This website offers a huge resource on freewares, and helps people choose free softwares to suit their needs.

From time to time, the website provides some offers, which maybe useful for the various users here. If an offer does not suit you, forget it, and move on... since its being offered for free. Just because you did not like one or two of the offers that were provided here, why do you forget and disrespect all the amount of help that is provided on the site? Why do you complain like you are paying for all the info and resource provided here?

This I am saying for all the people out here, who complain about various offers that are provided here, and overlook all other helpful things that this site provides to many users. Have some appreciation for Gizmo, and the good work done by his team, to put up such a site.

I agree so much with the comments that this in not the fault of Gizmo or his team of volunteers that bring us so much information. I posted a couple of times today warning people that this is just like Checkpoint to make this a hassle. I also pointed out that you use this crapware at your own risk because it's just not up to the standards of some of the other freeware that does an even better job.

Those that don't listen to the warning and get this junk that is hard to remove once it's on your machine deserve all the little presents that Checkpoint delivers.

Again... read this board before downloading and putting this stuff on your machine. There is much better stuff out there and for free, too!!!!

by Anonymous on 13. October 2009 - 18:03  (34571)

There is a box to check to enter code. I looked everywhere and there is no code. Sounds like a scam to me. If you are like me, I am a freeware junkie and I find loads of excellent freeware that does wonderful work. After reading all these other comments some of which are in nice detail I decided that I will NOT download this ASSUMED freeware.
All I can say is research, research, research. Use websites like PC mag and others and you can get Great Freeware and Open Source freeware that does the job you want and many times better than the pay for it scams. I know it takes time to develop new software and keep it updated but when you offer a fee version WITH all the bells and whistles then offer it. Don't try to scam us. If we can run a computer then we can't be all that stupid.
My recommendation after reading all the comments is don't waste the time.

If you had clicked on the Gizmo link, and signed up for the promotional notification, you would have received - via email - the direct download link, your license, and all the pertinent info. You would NOT have to enter any credit card info, or go through any of that crap.

Got my download, got the product, got the license - no hassles...

by Anonymous on 13. October 2009 - 16:46  (34564)

Gizmo... really did no one any favors offering this one... BAD karma for both Gizmo and ZA...

Will have to rethink any future looks at Gizmo... sorry I saw this...
