Free Software For Office 2007 From Microsoft

Office aficionados will find a veritable treasure trove of software that works with Office 2007 at this site.

This site could contain the Ultimate List of software created by Microsoft for Office 2007.

Microsoft Office has been around in one form or another for a very long time. Long enough that many people know its functions inside and out in any version. For them, this site is an Office power user's dream. For the rest of us, there are some interesting additions to the current Office version.

My Office expertise is non-existent. I can write things in Word and print them out. I'm much better at working out troublesome Office installations. One of the tools listed is one I've used fairly often over the years - the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. Its pretty good at fixing a certain problem that pops up - if you click on some non-Microsoft programs, the installer program for Office comes up and wants to install Office.

I assume that the software all works since it was created by Microsoft.

Access, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, Power Point, Visio and Word all have software listed.
I'm not familiar with many of them outside of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility but there are some interesting listings; Facebook and Flickr for Outlook, a Sudoku add-in for OneNote, and a Creative Commons Add-in that embeds a Creative Commons license into a Word, PowerPoint, or Excel document.

Check it out if you have Office 2007, you might find something useful or fun.

It's a bit surprising that they don't mention the Ribbon Customizer, mentioned in Windows Secrets a while ago. Though not truly free, it does has a free release.

It's tempting to use it to go back to the sensible pre-2007 menu bar layout, but as helpfully pointed out in the documentation, we're all probably going to have to get used to the ribbon eventually.

I go to Gizmo for the free software. Does any of this stuff work with Open Office, the real Office suite for fans of free?
Microsoft produces these add-ons like they do the power toys. It does show Microsoft does have some imaginative programmers on staff. I guess if you have to work with the same program day after day you will probably see all the corners and folds and figure out ways to change the view so to speak.

OpenOffice has its own extensions repository, but you probably know about those already.

There's a few broken links, like the live maps add in for Outlook 2007 (Been pulled by Microsoft it due to it causing problems) and "PDF Preview Handler" (I think this functionality is included Office 2007 SP2 due out in April).
