Free Program Opens PDF Files In A Flash

Anyone who has had to open a PDF file is probably familiar with Adobe Reader, the program developed by Adobe specifically for PDF files. If you've used Adobe Reader, you understand why many alternative programs have been developed to streamline the process of opening a PDF file. After trying several of the alternative programs, one stood out from the rest.

The alternative programs can't open and display all PDF files properly, and in Windows Explorer none of the alternative programs provides a thumbnail of the document.

Enter Adobe Reader Lite - a slimmed down version of Adobe Reader that opens, views and prints PDF files in a flash and displays them properly.
Much to my delight it displays thumbnails in Windows Explorer, something I use a lot.

The normal set of basic features are present, and for those of us who don't need extended capabilities this program is a great alternative.

Adobe Reader Lite is based on Adobe Reader, with some features and some plugins removed.
Most notably, the license agreement popups are gone, as well as the autorun and desktop shortcuts.
