A Free PDF To HTML Converter That Does A Great Job

Converting a PDF file to HTML has a number of benefits.  It's easier to extract or reformat the text, and it makes it possible to place the document on a web site without inconveniencing visitors who don't have a PDF reader installed.

I've tried a lot of free programs and online services that claim to be able to convert PDF to HTML reliably, but few of them do a proficient job.  So it's nice to come across one that does, in the name of http://www.pdftohtml.net.

Visit the site, upload a PDF file of up to 30 MB, and supply your email address.  That's all you need to do.  You can the leave the site.  When you check your email after a couple of minutes, a preview of the converted file will be waiting for you to view, along with a link to download the whole thing.

The download is in the form of a zip file, which you simply extract on your computer and then browse with your favourite web browser.  And as you can see from the sample extract below, the results are pretty good.

I too have tried three times with different email addresses and received nothing. I hope this is not some sort of scam to gain access to your hard drive!

So far I have tried three submissions. I have yet to receive my promised link to the zip archive containing the converted files.

Thanks for alerting us to that r.schifreen.

Unfortunately I'm on a slow dialup connection on this computer at the moment so can't test it properly. I'll be interested to see how others find it handles a pdf containing images and tables with complex layouts.

As you note, so many of the usual pdf conversion tools do not meet expectations and often disappoint.
Thanks again for your good work bringing us these 'finds'.
