Free PDF Converter
7-PDF Maker is a powerful tool to convert directly a wide range of files in other formats to high quality PDF files, without the need to install GhostScript or a virtual PDF printer. You might find that PDF files created by a virtual PDF printer usually do not contain 'clickable' hyperlinks and bookmarks, but the PDF files converted by 7-PDF Maker do.
This free program is not only able to convert files generated by Word, Excel, Powerpoint, OpenOffice, StarOffice, etc., but also convert images, text or web based files to PDF. A complete list of over 80 supported file formats is covered here for conversion to PDF.
The program comes with a Command line version or a Windows Explorer integration. You can either run the program or just right click a file to do the conversion.
The homepage is currently available only in German, but the program supports user interface in English. A manual in English is available.
Should you decide not to install the program, try 7-PDF Web Portal, which closely resembled the program interface, for online conversion of files to PDF.

The file is huge, but the number of file formats it handles is definitely a plus.
I was looking for PDF language translator, that can translate pdf in any language to English.
7-PDF Maker is a very greate PDF Tool. Makes my very nice hyperlinks inside my documents...
7-PDF Server is available now. Brings up "7-PDF Web Portal" as an "Offline-Version" inside your network. It's free for personal purposes. Also you can use a powerful server sides PDF-API, that comes with the server. You can use the API simply with free 7-PDF PHP and 7-PDF Java Libraries. The libraries are also free.
Install Open Office
Open your document with the dedicated OOo application
Save the document as PDF
You're done !
That's what 7-PDF does automatically for you, apparently.
At the expense of a sub-but-large set of OOo.
For those who use OOo already it would be a nice idea to
deliver only the automating application.
Sloopy?? What a balderdash!? Let me say, you're really a little bit wrong. 7-PDF is a good tool and it's free. So, what's the problem? I think the usability is greater then the handling with pdf printing. And 99% of office and private work can also be handled with 7-pdf maker. Sure, there are some sections were 7-pdf maker is not really the right for. But 99% of normal usecases can be done!!
At first glance this looked like a godsend. BUT, on second and third glances, this is a disappointment for my needs. Firstly and most importantly, no .CHM support. Which is the single most important conversion I need...all others are adequately handled by PDF printing. And secondly, the file size (already mentioned by others) really is ridiculous for this kind of narrow-purpose tool. Sloppy or...I don't know what.
I LIKE THIS FREEWARE PDF CONVERTER!
7-PDF Maker is a greate and very usefull pdf application. Its handy, and it's an easy to use PDF maker with an integrated Explorer Extension Add-on and a Command Line Application with a wide range of pdf settings you can make.
Converts 84 different File- and Images Formats to PDF!!!
Download now this greate Freeware App.
Thank you very much GIZMO!!
Hi!
Checked out a Excel 2000 file with ambitious content, and some maps inside the document. Converted them to pdf with 7-pdf maker. Really nice conversion! For a map, 7-pdf maker generates an own bookmark/toc entry inside the pdf. So you can switch the maps inside the pdf while clicking on the toc entries.
For me, PDF Conversions are more easier as using a pdf printer. The pdf printer settings are sometimes difficult to use and to understand for me.
I powerfull tool for standard business and office/home workers, I think.
Thanks Gizmo for posting this tool!
I've checked out some files. word and excel documents. my result is = tool looks good for me. I have try out some other tools that worked not really good for me. 7-pdf does the job.
I found the windows shell extension is really nice and handy. select some files, right click = pdf. create!
thanks for that tool. i love it!
Used to convert one Word 2007 *.docx "standard for me".
Here are my returns (quite bad) :
Cons :
- paragraph re-numbered
- add page break
- remove lines around and inside tables
- remove my M$ Visio schema.
Pro :
- create nice bookmarks from the table of content
- normal size of the generated PDF file.
To conclude :
- great for a basic use (adds 'clickable' hyperlinks)
- still not good enough for a professional use (I didn't find any freeware alternative to Adobe Softwares).
Does not work like described:
I maked a Word2007-Doc with hyperlinks and a index - the Hyperlinks are dead, the index is missing in the pdf!
Sys: Win7x64/Office2k7Enterprise
Nice tool!
Thank you Gizmo
Hi! Other PDF Apps uses ghostscript and that is also a really big "addon" (>20MB). So I think that 7-pdf can also use a set of OOo instead - why not? To develope a nice GUI over Ghostscript is also not really a big new way.
I used 7-pdf for myself and the app runs great - thats the point, or not?
I think 7-pdf is very usefull for home and private uses.
Thanks to the author of 7-pdf.
thanks Gizmo...most of the times I really enjoy your tips but this time I did, but Secunia PSI- guarding my computer- didn't. The 7-pdf tool comes with a complete installation of an old Open Office package (They should mention this at 7-PDF.de!!
Nothing against Open Office. Really like their alternative, just don't like to download it so secretely!
till the next time Gizmo. Really appreciate your work greatly: agradeço muito!
Intriguing! But I kind of have to wonder if it might be violating the GPL on Ghostscript somehow.
60 MB? What the hell?
My thoughts exactly... lol :D. But, I think you have to pay that price if you want to be able to convert from 80 formats to pdf, with other features like clickable links in the pdf file. People who require such features will be helped by this program. Otherwise, pdf printers like PdfCreator can do the job pretty well.
Anupam
Nah, an entire office suite can be fit into 60MB. This is either just very sloppy programming or a huge set of third-party apps of DLL's bundled together. Not impressed.
Hi! The "missing slash" bug is now fixed in the actual version 1.0.3
After downloading and installing the 7-pdf (stand alone) software, I tested it wit a word doc about 850 kb big.
The software created the pdf output, but an error in the code (missing a slash) made the file appear in a different folder, a big problem if someone is not familiar with how the folders are set in the computer.
Also the pdf file was a 10.1 megs big for an input file of only 850 kb.
The Cute pdf Writer with GhostScript managed to make the file at a 2.17 megs, something a little more reasonable.
I will pass on this one.
Thanx Gizmo, this is greatly appreciated. Working clickable links has been sorely missed with other products. About time someone did PDF creation right.
Thanks Jojoyee,
here's a trusted alternative for downloading.
version 1.00 not 1.02 you can probably update after you download.
