This anniversary ebook by Smashing Magazine contains the best articles that have been published in the last five years.

One of the premiere sites in web design and development, Smashing Magazine has created a free downloadable ebook to celebrate its fifth anniversary.

They describe it best ".......the anniversary book discusses usability issues and the principles of effective Web design. It covers the guidelines for beautiful and effective typography, and it spotlights methods of responsive Web design. In addition, you’ll learn how to master professional Photoshop techniques, explore storytelling in your designs, and focus on three key areas to polish your content strategy. Never thought that harmony between designers and developers was possible? Dig in to see how the two camps can collaborate productively and learn from each other."

@insecure; I agree with your gold mine comment - it's been one of my favorite sites for some time. :)

Really nice, PDF is only available in Apple's US App Store. Like there is nobody interested in web design outside of the US. Good thinking...

There are two links, "Free download on iTunes", and "Free download on Smashing Magazine". Try the second link. It is a zip file containing the ebook in different formats. I am in India, and I was able to get it fine.

@Martijn Weisbeek; I grabbed mine from the same link that Anupam mentions, it's a 55Mb .zip file. The zip file contains the PDF, the ePub and the Mobipocket versions.
I would be very surprised if they used iTunes exclusively as a download site since they are based in Freiburg,Germany.
