Finds of the Week (April 27, 2012)

Finds of the week is a list of web sites I've come across lately that are interesting, fun, or useful (or all three).

20 Free E-books For Web Designers
This is a great collection of eBooks relating to several aspects of web design. Some of the eBooks not related to web design and are quite useful for anyone interested in creativity and design.

The Google Drive Review You've Been Waiting For
Google Drive does more than it looks like on the surface. The article analyzes what Google Drive does right and where it could improve. The article includes a list of the third party app partners.
Read This Before You Move Your Business to Google Drive is another article on the same site, is well worth a read for both personal and business users.

How To: Block advertisements in Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Opera
This is a very useful article about blocking ads in the four major browsers and an interesting but brief discussion on advertising.

Generate Passwords at Wolfram Alpha
While there several ways to generate secure passwords (my favorite is LastPass) it's always good to add one more to the toolbox. This covers getting to the password page and how to use it.

Display Internet Explorer 9 Menu Bar Always, And On Top
When I use Internet Explorer (admittedly, not often) one of the things I miss is the menu bar. This tip outlines how to make the menu visible all the time and how to move the menu bar to the top. Making these changes requires going in to the Registry.
Back up your registry before making any changes and be very sure to follow directions.

Enjoy,
Rhiannon

Read the Google Drive review and was most interested about MS NEW Skydrive and the fact that they went from 25G to 7G (still better than 5G (Shame on Google)

Well I checked out Skydrive (having had an account for quite a while)

After clicking on the url for other plans, I noticed a message stating that have been a long term user and that by clicking on a button, I would be bumped back to 25G instantly and FREE!!!

Worked for me :)

Re the IE9 Menu bar. Why don't you just right click anywhere in the upper toolbar and select Menu bar?

"having had an account for a while"

Anyone who has previously used the service and the 25GB it offered has a short time to log back in and click like you did to secure their 25GB
New users (and presumably returning users who are too slow) will miss out

It is gettng very hard to pick which to use for me
Skydrive give me 25GB which makes it the clear leader
All have versioning and work similarly on the desktop - although Skydrive integrates best
So many services integrate with Dropbox though and it has been excellent for me
But I use so many Google services and have an Android phone

Gahh - who needs choice? It's all too hard

@TechHelpSite;
You can add SugarSync to the list - 5GB free. =)
