A File Backup/Sync Service With Great Mobile Support

You'll probably know that I'm a big fan of Dropbox (www.dropbox.com), the online backup and file sync service that offers free accounts if you only need 2 GB of storage.

But if Dropbox has one weakness, it's the lack of support for mobile platforms.  Sure, you can automatically back up and sync your files between Windows, Linux and Mac machines, and there are also client apps for the iPhone, iPad and Android.  But if that's still not enough choice for you, don't despair.  Because a relatively new entrant to the market offers even more options.

Like Dropbox, Sugarsync (www.sugarsync.com)  supports Windows and Mac.  It also offers its client software for Symbian, Android, iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, and Windows Mobile.  So if you use any of these devices, you can easily ensure that all your key files from your PC are also automatically synced with, and backed up to, your mobile device.

Give www.sugarsync.com a try.  A starter account with 2 GB of storage is free for life.

To select account type:

Open Dropbox and select File (in the upper lefthand corner), select Dropbox and then select Browse Dropbox Website.
Select Account on their website. (Your account name will be shown)
Select Upgrade and then select Basic Free.

When you first install Dropbox you will also be given this option.

a. it attempts to 'actions' which contravene Blackberry IT 'firewall' policy rules. (Source: warning for BB opp.)
