Email newsletter programs
will control sending an email newsletter to about 2000 people. There sre many commercial services, but historically I expected this was a function that where there would be some free programs. I searched several years ago, but didn't find any fairly easy to use/ understand for a windows pc. Mailman etc . Most used a linux box or needed to be set up on a web server (which I do have a limited service ) - but I dont understand how to do it.
Currently I use several gmail accounts (limited to under 100 BCC's per send) and under 400 sent per day, I think. But since most online group notices - like yahoo - don't allow mass addition or changes for spam reasons. Our emails are all personally written.
maybe there is already programs evaluated here, but my search terms need to be changed.
Thanks for any help

I've been searching for a good bulk emailer for our nonprofit running group email messages that go out to about 400+ email addresses. So far, with two programs, an SMTP Server and a Bulk Emailer, I've been able to get free solution. Most pay-for programs have them both integrated together.
I found a simple free SMTP email server program: http://www.softstack.com/freesmtp.html
And then you can just use 'localhost' as the SMTP Server in a free bulk emailer program, like Email Marketing Pro: http://www.emailmarketingprofessional.com/
Or, MassMail: http://www.kgpsoftware.com/massmail.htm
I'm guessing it would take a few minutes to send out individual email messages, but I haven't tested them yet for a large group of contacts yet. These programs are free, pretty easy to setup, and the messages are sent directly from your computer with no limits.
Are there any better free solutions out there?

Since you are asking a service to do some work for you, I don't see that as being free as they have to pay their lightbill, etc.
http://www.constantcontact.com/index.jsp
and has a 60 day free trial.
Did a quick Google on email marketing campaign and found: http://www.mailchimp.com/resources/ however, I don't know a thing about it.
