The Best Free Multimedia Software For PC
Sothink SWF Quicker free July 14 ONLY on Give Away Of The Day (GOTD)
Today's time limited offer from GOTD could be especially useful for anyone who wants to put flash animations on their website. The program normally costs about $85.
The developers market SWF Quicker as the leading software for editing and tweaking existing flash animations or creating your own flash animations. This may be a plausible claim. Although I'm not in a position to perform a first hand check, I can confirm that Sothink is known to produce quality software. And the features list seems pretty impressive.
Developer's feature description:
- Supports applying Flash filters to add special animating visual effects to texts, buttons and movie clips.
- Supports exporting the movie as Animated GIF file and Windows AVI video.
- Provides Object Snapping, Pixel Snapping and Snap Alignment to align objects.
- Support creating Shape morph effect (transform one shape to another).
- Supports creating photo morph effect (transform one image to another).
- Provides various built-in Flash Album, Banner, Navigation Button and Slide Show templates.
- Provides a group of tools for you to create vector graphics and texts in the way of What You See Is What You Get.
- Supports importing various kinds of media types, such as AI, MP3, MPEG, AVI, MOV, etc.
- Fully supports syntax of Flash ActionScript 2.0 to control the animations.
- Provides an intelligent ActionScript Editor, which supports Syntax Highlighting, Auto Completion and Dynamic Prompt.
- Supports specifying keyframes to generate Tween Animations automatically.
- Provides a large number of built-in animated effects.
- Supports importing and editing SWF files and the EXE files compressed from SWF files.

I downloaded it, and installed it...
...and even though my DEP is disabled in Vista, and even though no other program on my entire machine suffers from this particular impediment...
...the darned thing won't launch. I keep getting an APPCRASH.
And the company's tech support -- at least so far -- is worse than worthless.
I realize the GOTD thing says "no tech support," but I can't even get into it far enough to enter the GOTD serial number information. So, as far as I'm concerned, I'm a trial user, trying to TRY OUT the program, just like anyone else... and people like THAT certainly get tech support when they can't even get the darned thing to launch.
I'm very interested in this product, but so far it's of no value to me. And despite my taking inordinate time to make sure that they know every error I'm getting, and exactly what I'm doing, they keep treating me like I'm 6 years old, and requesting things which have no relevance, and saying that they have machines like mine which run the program just fine. That's not tech support.
So, so far my review of the product is: Avoid it.
If the product's maker will elevate my tech support request and get serious about fixing it, then maybe I'll change my tune.
Pity.
Thank you for pointing out this program to me. I don't have time to go to give away of the day every day and rely on your emails to alert me to good programs that become available in this way. Great work that you do all the time and much appreciated. Is there a free program to put comment boxes on your web site like this one?

Thanks for that Ben.
Gizmo's Freeware Forum has a section called "i want a freeware program that ..."
You might like to try posting your query there as a new thread.

Does this program have any real rivals (freeware alternatives)? I haven't heard of any. And it's garnered a lot of appreciation on the GAOTD comments.
My advice: If you've got a use for this flash editor, grab it immediately before the offer expires.
Just a thought...not meaning to be perverse or anything. Do items on the GAOTD site really qualify as 'Hot Finds'?? I mean, everyone knows about the site and it's giveaways...most would visit there by habit anyway.
I would have thought in order to qualify as a 'Hot Find' it would need to be something not so well known, a little bit secret, if ya know what I mean...but that might just be me.
It's true that during the 8 hours or so since this article was published, it has attracted only about 200 views.
At the same time though, I notice the product's approval rating over on the GOTD page has gradually climbed to 81% - an unusually high consensus which to me confirms that today's particular giveaway really does deserve Hot Find status.

The quality of GOTD offers ranges considerably, and only selected items get posted as Hot Finds. The intention is to alert TSA readers to some of the more attractive ones.
Seems useful to me - especially for those TSA users/subscribers who for whatever reason don't happen to visit GOTD on a daily basis. But if you feel this isn't such a hot idea, maybe you could start a forum thread discussion.
