ZC DVD Creator Platinum Version 4.5.8 - FREE Offer
There aren't so many good, simple DVD authoring freeware programs out there. So a free offer of ZC DVD Creator Platinum - an exceptionally easy-to-use commercial DVD authoring program - is of real interest.
The giveaway comes from a German language site called Winload, but this article from ghacks provides details of the program and takes you through the hoops very quickly. Basically, you just have to give a valid email address to get hold of the download link and product serial number (mine arrived immediately). Although software instructions are available only in German, DVD Creator Platinum is so easy to set up and use that you probably won't miss them.
A mainstream freeware option for DVD authoring is DVD Flick - a very likable program which integrates seamlessly with other excellent freeware, like ImgBurn (see Best Free CD / DVD Burning Software). DVD Flick would doubtless be a prime contender for a Gizmo's Freeware best free DVD authoring software award. However, DVD Creator Platinum is even simpler to use.

Followed the instructions. Received my reg key. Copied user name and reg key and pasted as per instruction. INVALID reg key. I just wanted to give it a try. Already have Nero (older version) and Ashampoo burning studio. Just wanted to check it out. Oh Well no big loss

The newer version 6.4.7 with a download size of 34.3MB will ask for both user name and reg key upon installation.
The version 4.5.8 offered free is an older version with a much smaller download size of about 7.2MB. Upon installation, it does not ask for a user name, but a reg key only, which you can get it through the link. The link doesn't suggest a user name, does it?

I did download the 7 meg file and it asked for user name and reg key. I tried just the reg key and it came up invalid. I then tried username (e-mail) and reg key same result. But hey tried out qtl addon to firefox to make sure I was getting it right. Nice addon by the way.
I might just be knuckle head on this one and not getting it right. :)
Update: Ok I went through the process again using my other e-mail. It worked, LOL. If you remember the 60's you wasn't there....lol

Tried it. Not worth it. Does even allow to change encoder settings. Totally lame.
This one is really for folks who just want something simple which does a job with a minimum of fuss.

Thanks. However, I noticed there are some missing features comparing with the Platinum edition featured in thei Quick Start Step by Step Guide in http://www.videoxdvd.com/video_to_dvd_guide.htm. Perhaps that's a newer version?
Anyway, some missing features are the menu preview, background music a image, etc.
The most latest version is not being offered for download. Its a version older.

Yes, it seems good Bob. I saw this on Ghacks yesterday, but did not give it a thought, until I saw it now on our site. I have to make a Video DVD, and I have DVD Flick and DVD Styler with me. I think I will give this a try, and see how it works out. I downloaded it earlier. I will give it a go, and write what I think of it :). Thanks.
Ashampoo have also been giving out similar offers, of their older versions for free, or on promotional basis. This is a good way to to promote the product, and for us who like freebies, its a good thing to get such offers once in a while :D.
