I am also a fan of Taskbar Shuffle... But our standard platform at my office is (64-bit) Windows XP x64. The only free utility I have found with a 64 bit version is something called "taskix", available here: http://taskix.robustit.com/
It only allows rearranging the taskbar "buttons", but for that it works great - I've never had a bit of trouble from it. [and it sure beats closing and re-opening programs to get them in the "right" order :-)]

Have been using Taskbar Shuffle for a couple of years and highly recommend it. Should be a part of Windows.

Thanks, will check out the first three. I currently use TaskArrange (found at http://users.forthnet.gr/pat/efotinis/programs/taskarrange.html) but will try Taskbar Shuffle since TaskArrange doesn't move System Tray icons.
NiftyWindows is awesome as well. But I recommend that the option to remove color from a window be used by those with REALLY good video, and to remember how to cancel effects if you get in a bind (Ctrl+WIN+Backspace to revert to Windows normal or WIN+Esc to toggle the effects).
I say this because I experienced a delay between triggering the "remove a color" effect and it's execution. This, coupled with a little impatience on my part, resulted in somewhat undesirable behavior (smile). But otherwise my laptop with 256MB dedicated video board was able to handle the rest, even the varying degrees of transparency.
Ah, the impatience response--I am only too familiar with this one in a variety of situations. I seem to be able to handle it in interpersonal situations, just not in inter-technological situations!

NiftyWindows sounds like it's worth a try, but most of its best features I can get in WinRoll, another very nice, extremely tiny freeware app.
The RSS promo maintains that these utilities offer similar features to that found in Photoshop - that may or may not be so. But should a site that promotes free software be giving a free plug to software with a price tag of A$1,148.40, that's about US$895!
The RSS feed said, "Like your windows to snap into place like they do in Photoshop".
That's hardly a "plug".
The RSS feed did nothing to promote that product, but rather give users an free alternative to that product's way of placing windows on your desktop. I think you need to re-read that RSS feed. You can always drop the feed if you don't like knowing about quality freeware software.
he's not pimping PS; he's saying this prog will make your windows do similar things to PS snap-edge windows.
I can second Winsplit, puts an end to systematic window overlapping. It gives you much better window organization, including child windows, and dual monitor support. Problem is, some program windows are not resizable and you have others that you cannot save their location...
