Download YouTube Videos Easily And Quickly
There are dozens of different ways of downloading YouTube videos but this free web service is one of the simplest as it requires no special software which means it can be done on any computer. As a bonus you have a wide choice of download formats.
KickYouTube is a free web based application that makes downloading YouTube videos a breeze. If you can type the word "kick" then you can download videos in a few steps.
1. Load the page for the YouTube video you want in your browser.
2. Add the word "kick" between the www. and the youtube.com section of the URL and hit enter. Example:
Original YouTube URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch/?v=RLq7Aqd_H7g
Modified YouTube URL: http://www.kickyoutube.com/watch/?v=RLq7Aqd_H7g
3. The page will re-load, this time with the KickYouTube toolbar towards the top of the page. From the toolbar select the format you want.
4. Click the Go button on the right side of the toolbar. When it changes from "Go" to "Down" right click it and select "Save as.."

Thanks Anupam. I tried it and and with every video I attempted to download I was unable. A notice popped up stating "invalid URL." Did you have this experience before you had it work correctly?
I have downloaded videos with it from YouTube, and Vimeo, and did not have such problem. From where were you attempting to download videos from?

Although, I was not able to download some Vimeo video with the above, but it can download videos from number of video sites.
From YouTube.The URLs used were identical to the videos on YT as I simply cut and pasted them so I am puzzled as to why the difficulty.

@ginger; It's always slow for me when I download videos - doesn't matter what I'm using. There are some good recommendations in the comments if you want to try something else. :-)
doesn't work with the geolocation based blocked videos on youtube. you just don't get the download links. and even if you do, all you get to download are 0 byte files. not the actual videos. instead, my antivirus goes nuts about the website.. great -.-
The only website i found so far which actually lets me download a video that youtube says is blocked in my country is Savevideo.me
The WebM links don't work, but that's probably because the videos i've tried simply don't have WebM versions.. (i think?!)
plus you don't have to run any non-certified java applet crap and grant it full friggin access to your computer.. that just screams "abuse" IMHO..

Another way is to go to this site KeepVid, paste the YouTube URL and download it, without the need to amend the URL.
looks like www.keepvid.com went over to a payware download tool.
If you are referring to the banner of AVS Video Converter, with a download button... it is a sponsor banner. I think keepvid is still free.

1. In your browser, go to the page where the YouTube video you want to download is.
2. In the address bar of your browser, use your mouse cursor and click inside the address, after www. The mouse cursor should now be positioned after the www.
Type in the word kick after www. where your mouse cursor is blinking. Hit enter on your keyboard.

Try asking at either of these categories, they know much more about capturing mp3 than I do.

I have been using this firefox extension and it really couldn't be any easier. It puts the download links right on the web page to the right of the video (in the video description box).
You can download in FLV, 3GP, MP4 and HD as MP4 if available.

I also use the Firefox addon "Easy YouTube Video Downloader". It is still free but the new version 5.6 just released it has two versions, slower mp3's with no adds, or fast mp3's with ads. Have loved being able to select video quality or audio only. Going to try the ad supported version.

An alternative to kickyoutube is kissyoutube. This takes you to another downloader site. Youtube videos can be downloaded in HD (if they exist)
I am not familiar with the current music scene. Could somebody tell me who was singing the piece "Bringing Me Down" (guessing) on the instructional video?
Did anyone mention "pwn", which works exactly liked "kick"? In Instruction_2 above, just put "pwn" instead of "kick".
Does anyone know how to download (High-definition) HD Video content from YouTube?
