Download YouTube Videos Easily And Quickly
There are dozens of different ways of downloading YouTube videos but this free web service is one of the simplest as it requires no special software which means it can be done on any computer. As a bonus you have a wide choice of download formats.
KickYouTube is a free web based application that makes downloading YouTube videos a breeze. If you can type the word "kick" then you can download videos in a few steps.
1. Load the page for the YouTube video you want in your browser.
2. Add the word "kick" between the www. and the youtube.com section of the URL and hit enter. Example:
Original YouTube URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch/?v=RLq7Aqd_H7g
Modified YouTube URL: http://www.kickyoutube.com/watch/?v=RLq7Aqd_H7g
3. The page will re-load, this time with the KickYouTube toolbar towards the top of the page. From the toolbar select the format you want.
4. Click the Go button on the right side of the toolbar. When it changes from "Go" to "Down" right click it and select "Save as.."
The home page for this application has a video with more details how to use the service.

Also have a look at the site forums, lots of good information and knowledgeable, friendly folks.
This looks good, thanks!
I'm looking for something to download Pandora. Got any recommendations pls? Not being in the US I use Hotspotshield as a proxy, if that makes a difference.
Anyone know how to download TOS Star Trek from youtube?
I have been using this firefox extension and it really couldn't be any easier. It puts the download links right on the web page to the right of the video (in the video description box).
You can download in FLV, 3GP, MP4 and HD as MP4 if available.

Hi,
a much better way is to get Ashampoo Clipfinder, which is totally free from here
With this program you can download from a bunch of sites: Youtube, Vimeo, Spike, Veoh, Dailymotion, Googlevideo, Livevide, Blip.tv, Yahoo!video, Metacafe, Myspace, Sevenload, Myvideo, Vide and Clipfish.
Free registration is required. The user interface is quite advanced and you should use your mouse for dragging, and the mousewheel for zooming in and out.

Arie

The link posted is in German. The English option returns the same page but the software is commercial, not free
Hi again,
this software is absolutely free!!! Other Ashampoo products are indeed commercial.
I've used it for a long time and never had to pay for it and that's the way it is advertised also.

Arie
Some of these offers are local specific. We've seen similar security software confusion recently with stuff from Rising which is only "free" within mainland China.
I double checked this link from Google and it immediately returns a page requiring $14.99 for the software.
An alternative to kickyoutube is kissyoutube. This takes you to another downloader site. Youtube videos can be downloaded in HD (if they exist)
I am not familiar with the current music scene. Could somebody tell me who was singing the piece "Bringing Me Down" (guessing) on the instructional video?
Did anyone mention "pwn", which works exactly liked "kick"? In Instruction_2 above, just put "pwn" instead of "kick".
Does anyone know how to download (High-definition) HD Video content from YouTube?
Thanks in advance :)
if you are using firefox
the grease monkey script called yousable tubefix will help you download any type of video you want
See: Video Tutorial: Easiest Youtube Download Method
You can do this with DownloadHelper - http://www.downloadhelper.net/
Try selecting "HQ18" (or whichever HQ## works with your player/codecs)
Is not easier to just use Orbit downloader?
I hit record on Cool Edit and start the You Tube vid. As the vid plays on You Tube Coool Edit automaticaly records the audio.
Here is a tutorial and a video on how to use Any video converter. I know the online ones are good but any video converter does so much more, like extracts audio, downloads lists of movies and converts them to different formats...etc etc.. http://www.tips4pc.com/Articles/Dvd%20Movie/download_and_convert_youtube...
If you're using FireFox, the best is still DownloadHelper
Wouldl normally agree, however if you have RealPlayer then it becomes even easier as every page that has video/audio that can be downloaded is prompted to be downloaded via RealPlayer.
For downloading youtube, google, and other videos, I've been using these 2 free websites. Just copy and paste in the URL from youtube, google, etc and then you can download the video.
http://keepvid.com/
http://www.videosnag.com/
If one doesn't work, try the other. Sometimes you have a choice of the quality of the video file to be saved.
I also used the free AnyVideoConverter software to convert the flv (flash) youtube files to other video formats. AnyVideoConverter also has a feature that will let you paste in the URL from youtube and other sites, or just drag and drop if you're using Firefox. Plus there is even an option to just save the audio portion of the video as a wav file if that is what you want.

does anyone know what can record on bbc media player (from bbc news websites, etc)
According to the BBC, this is NOT possible from the new Iplayer. It used to be possible, but even then the recording expired after 30 days.
However, software engineers are clever people, and it's perfectly possible solutions will emerge in the future ... although under the terms of the BBC's copyright, it's very doubtful that there is any legal solution.
Sniff!
But for RADIO only, it may be possible ;-) in The KMPlayer (or GOM, I think) ...
Try using Firefox fitted with the MediaPlayerConnectivity extension configured for use with KMPlayer (or GOM) ...
[From within the UK, try going to a page containing a link to the programme ... save the link to the desktop and click it ... then click the link that appears in the new Firefox window ...]
... use one of the MediaPlayerConnectivity links to open in KMP (or GOM)
... Access AudioCapture from the player's context menu
;-)
To do this for either radio or tv you need get_iplayer from http://linuxcentre.net/getiplayer/
Although that's a link to LinuxCentre, get_iplayer is available there in versions which can run on Windows 9x, Windows XP, Linux/Unix, or Mac OSX.
There is also a cross-platform option there to run it on Perl (i.e. as a Perl script on any platform which can run ActivePerl).
Thanks. The get_iplayer homepage makes a good read too...
I lol this:
"It does not circumvent any digital rights management security (see the BBC’s website on how to do that with the Windows-only DRM content they provide)."

I'm trying to find an editor that will let me strip the audio from youtube downloads. Any suggestions for simple freeware?
I use the AOA Audio Extractor freeware program to extract audio from Youtube vids: http://www.aoamedia.com/download.htm
I use the free tools from,
http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/
I use Cool Edit Pro to record the audio tracks from You Tube. I just bring up Cool Edit and begin a recording session. Then I open You Tube and go to the video I wanna extract audio from, like a trance track. I hit record on Cool Edit and start the You Tube vid. As the vid plays on You Tube Coool Edit automaticaly records the audio. Its a breeze. You should be able to do this with any app that can record sound on your computer. Try it. God Bless America.

Try this site, works great.

Best and easiest is DownloadHelper.
KeepVid is worth every penny it costs. download many many sites and save in Mpg4, AVI,and many more formats. Been using it for two years now. It WAS only $19 back then. Free updates everytime you run the program.
KeepVid alows you to save files in low (.flv) or high (.mp4) quality.
That one looks like a keeper, thanks for the suggestion.
I still like The All-In-One Video Bookmarklet more. It supports some other sites in addition to YouTube. I use it on my Bookmarks Toolbar in Firefox and it works like a charm.
Does KickYouTube support only YouTube?
Video DownloadHelper (an add-in for Firefox) can handle a very wide range of websites and videos. I thought I'll list the websites here, but a bout of laziness smacked me in the face when I saw the long list I had to type! lol
See http://www.downloadhelper.net/ for more info instead.
Right now it only supports YouTube.
I like download helper as well - though it works in Firefox and not some other browsers. KickYouTube works with any browser.
THANKS FOR THE INFO WILL GIVE IT A TRY.
