Convert Addresses to Latitude and Longitude

Pinpoint any place on Earth using a single set of coordinates: latitude and longitude.

Part of my ongoing fascination with maps includes longitude and latitude. I like this article because it shows several ways to discover the longitude and latitude of an address. For some years now I’ve been plugging in place names at the Weather Underground (my favorite weather site!). Along with all the weather data, it shows the latitude and longitude of the selected locale.
This article at wired.com has four different ways to find latitude and longitude. You can convert data using a website made for that purpose, use a map, get results in XML, and use Geohashing and Geolinking. The XML method allows you to play with the Geocoder API at both Google and Yahoo. Um, yeah, I’ll get right on that. :)

Even easier is to use Google Earth. At the bottom of the screen it gives the lat/long of the cursor.

I'd say it's simpler to right-click the "Link" blue text link in Google Maps, copy the link, and snip out the &ll=... portion.
