Blog Instantly Using Only Email
If you can use email, you can have your own website to share thoughts and media with the world.
Posterous is a place to post just about everything.
Its as simple as sending an email.
You can attach any type of file to an email and Posterous will post it, along with the text of your email, to your blog.
There's no sign up or set up.
The format is similar to a tumblelog but easier to use.
Photo's, MP3's, video links, video files, and documents can all be shared.
What happens after you've sent the email is where the easy part starts:
- If you attach a photo, it's automatically re-sized for the web and posted.
- If you attach more than one photo in the same message, an image gallery is automatically created.
- Music gets dropped into a media player right on the page so anyone can listen to it.
- Videos get transcoded automatically to be viewed in a flash player.
- Posting a YouTube link will automatically embed it into a YouTube player.
Posterous has embedded players for these services: YouTube, Google Video, Hulu, Funny Or Die, Omnisio, MixWit, Justin.TV, Fliggo, Vimeo, motionbox, TED Talks, Viddler, Dailymotion, Blip.tv, Revver, TeacherTube, GodTube, seesmic, and Brightcove.
- All URL's are automatically turned into links. You can use any email program and web mail such as Gmail, AOLmail, Yahoo Mail, Windows Hotmail, and Windows Live Mail.
Posterous works wherever email does.

Very nice, gives me a lot of inspiration being right in the midst of a redesign. It’s all in the details and comment forms are definitely overlooked more often than not. Time well spent on this post.
Wow - this is the best article i’ve read in ages!
Thanks. :)
The proper files were still web web. I thought it was strange, and even after changing the group as your instructions said, there was no change in how this displayed in both putty and filezilla. However, I tested uploading to my blog and it worked like a charm! I am not sure what is going on with the group thing, but somehow it must have worked. I’m curious as to what the deal is with that. In any case, Thank you so much!
Glad you like it. I'm pretty impressed with them too.
