blank internet page

Ever since I got my new computer with the Vista operating system I get a blank internet explorer page popping up when I first start up the computer or let it sit quiet for a time.  If it does the latter I will have several of those blank IE pages on the desktop.  I have run several different malware/adware programs such a CW Shredder, ADware and others.  It is driving me crazy.  Lately it is popping up when I am actively using the computer! The only way I get rid of the page is to stop what I am doing and start the task manager and press end. When I am working on the computer it stops anything I am doing. Help!

I think your system is just fine. many user have *funky* star up after they go with IE7/ Vista update.
what you have is IE7 setting in >> little house icon (home) click the arrow and take a look if you have more than just one link selected in your case it should show two links which makes the IE7 think >>> both in same time or more...

this is nice feature in some cases.... expl.. you like to open google, cnn, itoons, etc in same time, well you just keep adding the links to it and will open every webpage in same time.

There are a number of very good free security tools out there, but these two stand out, and may well solve the problem !!

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php ( Malwarebytes ) click " Download " to get the free version which just lacks Realtime protection .

http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html ( Superantispyware ) Same restriction with the free version !

It does sound like the "About:Blank" malware attack.
Does the address bar of IE show "About:Blank " as the address?
This is notoriously difficult to remove, especially if CW Shredder can't deal with it.
Increasingly, I'm advising users with bad malware infections to reformat and re-install, but of course this implies you can re-install all applications and have a good uninfected data backup.
