Best tip that was overlooked this year

If I have counted correctly, 111 tip articles have appeared in this space so far in 2011. The tips cover a variety of subjects with offerings for computer users at all levels of experience. Naturally, some have attracted more readers than others. It would be unrealistic to expect every tip to appeal to a large number of viewers but there is one that I think got overlooked. I believe it deserves being mentioned again. So I am going to close out the year by making a pitch for revisiting a previous article.

The tip article in question is about something with a name that may make you think it is for geeks only but that is far from the truth.  Lest you quickly turn to something else, let me hasten to assure you that there is something for everybody to learn in the subject of “environment variables” and from the tip that appeared at this link.

You see environment variables frequently and, even if you never use them, it is worth learning what they are. Read the tip and you will see how simple it really is and how useful environment variables are. Who knows? After reading about them, you may even use an environment variable or two yourself some day.
