If you have fond memories of drawing out a few games of classic Tic-tac-toe, you will find this mega version of the paper-and-pencil game much more challenging and entertaining.
In classic Tic-tac-toe, players take turns to mark X and O in a small 3x3 grid and the first player who draws three of his symbols in a row wins the game. In this Mega Tic Tac Toe, you win the game if you are the first to mark five of your symbols in a row, either vertically, horizontally or diagonally. And it is challenging both tactically and strategically.
Developed by Noam Behar, this game app is cleverly designed with a paper-and-pencil feel. It caters for three options of play, either one player, two players or online to challenge players around the world.
In one player mode, the computer AI has five levels of difficulty for you to challenge, from an easy level up to a master depending on the app version you use. In online mode, the app connects and picks an opponent for you from the network in each round and each player has to make a move within a few seconds otherwise he loses the game.
Mega Tic Tac Toe is a type of Gomoku game, also called “Five in a Row”. It has a particular rule requires you to play only next to an occupied cell while other Gomoku games have free or pro rules. (See also: Hone Your Skills and Get a Rating in Gomoku)
Enjoy and play this game as your time killer besides sharpening your wits. It is free, supported by ads and available across multiple platforms including Android, iOS and Windows. The feature of network play with rankings has yet to be implemented in the Windows 8/10 version at time of this review.
